Great piece of kit, why did I not get one sooner?
I've seen so many people use these and often wondered if they were worth the money. Well now I wonder why I waited do long to get one!Set up is easy, use is easy, I now have loads of neatly would balls of yarn. The accessory pack was also a bonus however I'm slightly confused by the fact that the pack has crochet hooks but cable needles because they are used in knitting.Would highly recommend this winder

Very functional, good so far. I'm pleased.
I last bought one in 1980. The red/cream kind and it just messed up recently.THE OLD ONEMy centre pull balls were in a tangle in the middle, hidden from sight and the yarn guide would never stand up or fix in place. After 44 yrs the plastic was brittle.THE NEW ONE- Yarn guide clicks into place- Winder is much quieter and sturdy (all winders will make a noise which is amplified by a dining table.- Clamps onto table firmly, moves around less.- Clamp wing nut is easier to spin round until tight cf old which needed a knob turning and wasn't easy.- Easier to wind from an old skein, which I do halfway through 100g.- Colour is less off putting.- Box is sturdier and it's easy to store- Spindle base is larger so great for 100g cakes.- Spindle base is firmly fixed and and only the top comes off to pack down.- Comes with a plastic box with dividers full of free craft tools likeFull set of crochet hooks in all dizes with easy hold handlesStitch Markers - various colours & sizes in both locking and split ring typeTape measurePoint protectorsCable needlesLarge wool needles in 2 sizesEasy thread cutterNB: IF you are winding from a yarn swift (those 'unbrella' type contraptions that hold long skeins of yarn) then you will get correct tension for a firm yarn cake. However if you are winding from shop small balls or commercial factory skeins, even if you feed from centre if you font use fingers or hand to guide yarn, your cake will be very loose. You can buy a separate cog device to give tension winding ball to ball. This is more pronounced with lighter gauge yarns. It's the same for all wool winders. If you get sore fingers like me, use a cotton glove, sock or cloth that is low friction.Note, this review is after using for just one day on 6th April 2024 and rewinding 6 skeins. If I encounter any problems I will come back and edit this review and re-date it.

Perfect
Bought this as a replacement for another wool winder for my wife. She especially loves that the wool guide is in a fixed position as the previous one kept dropping out of the way. This winder is sturdy and easy to use, definitely value for money.

Great Gadget
Perfect for my home use - crochet mad!!!! and saves me getting annoyed when I start using a ball of wool and stop it getting in knots - also kept the kid entertained with helping me wind the wool
