Keep your instrument clean and in order
I ordered this for my son who plays alto saxophone. Keeping your instrument clean and in working order is crucial for anyone who plays. This allows you to do so with quality gear that should last a significant amount of time if you take care of it. The stitching is of good quality and the material is as well. If you need a kit for beginner players who need to keep their instruments clean, then this is a great value option.

Absolutely incredible value
As a saxophonist and an Amazon Vine Voice, when I saw this kit, I *had* to try it for myself. I thought there was no way a $10 kit could be any good, but I was dead wrong, as it's incredibly great value for moneyFor example, my saxophone neck swab is almost identical to the one in this kit, that cost me $10 *on its own*. Add a body swab for $15, and another $10 for the neck strap, and yoou can see where I'm going. The neck strap isn't padded, and to be honest, I like that about it. Most padded neck straps are made of some kind of non-breathable foam. If you're in a marching band, or under hot studio lights, you're going to have sweat dripping down your back without a breathable strap. Padded, breathable straps exist, but they start to get a bit pricier than "Part of a $10 kit". My only caveat here is that, I wouldn't use it with a heavy bari sax. For a soprano or alto? It should do the job just fine. The hook is made of durable plastic so it's not going anywhere once you've got it on your horn. The thing I found the most novel though, was actually the body swab. Like I said originally, the body swab I bought for my tenor originally cost me $15, and it gets the job done, but the swab in this kit is weighted at either end. Why is that important? Ask your sax repair tech how many times they've had to get a swab unstuck from a horn where it decided to snag, and there was no way to easily get at it from the other side. Now, I'm not saying that if this one snags, you should go tugging on the weight on the other end, but a gentle pull might just get it unstuck and save you a trip to the technician - just be careful doing this!I also like that the end of the body swab is flared. My silk swab relies on just being really, really long to try and catch all the moisture. It's such a simple, but clever innovation.Bottom line: if you're new to the saxophone, on a budget, and don't want to pay $50+ at the band rental store buying your cleaning kit piecemeal, it's hard to go wrong at this price.

Some Useful, Some Not!
For my alto sax, the two cleaning cloths work great at wiping out moisture after playing. I would avoid using the mouthpiece brush unless there is hardened spit on the inside of the mouthpiece, otherwise it might damage the mouthpiece. Just use the neck cloth to wipe out moisture after every session. Not sure if the rest of the stuff is very useful.- The reed holder is a nice bonus, but it can only hold one reed... Sax players typically need 3 or 4 good reeds in their rotation.- The cloth for wiping the outside is nice as well, but it's rather small, so it's really only best for wiping smudges off the inside areas of the sax, not the outside that is visible to the audience.- The screwdriver may not fit every saxophone. I'd also recommend leaving those sorts of adjustments to a repair shop.- Neck strap is very basic with no padding. Go for a neoprene padded neck strap, they are way more comfortable and durable.

Versatile!
This cleaning set is amazing and if you are someone that owns many instruments then you will be grateful for this just for the basic cleanings. Of course each instrument has individual cleaning tools for those deeper cleans. However, for your basic dusting of most tubular instruments, then you will be perfectly set with this set.

A cheap necessity for any saxophonist
I got this cleaning kit mainly for the pull thru swabs and cloths. I have an alto and tenor sax and it's important to clean the body, neck and mouthpiece after playing, to prevent corrosion and extend the life of the pads and keep them from sticking (G# I'm talking about you). The big swab has pulls on both ends which is important because if the swab gets caught on something when pulling it (bell to neck), you can use the other end to pull it back out safely. I use the small cloths to dry mainly the upper pads which always get wet when playing. I don't use the mouthpiece brush too much, but it's good to have. The other items are less useful: thin neck strap I'd use only in an emergency, thumb rest pad-never use, reed case-not needed as most reeds come with one, screwdriver-I'd be careful with this, it only fits small screws and some shouldn't be tightened because it can affect the action. A pin spring tool would be more useful. The lack of a case doesn't bother me because I can put just the swabs and cloths in my sax case and toss out the parts I don't need. It's still a good value.
