Disappointing pen for this price point.
I bought the basic Hemisphere Essential Gold Trip at around £25. I really wanted to like this pen, and I do, but not enough to recommend it.* The nib is over polished. Once it starts writing it's fine, but it's prone to a lot of hard starts.* Flow - generous and wet* Size - it's a very thin pen. Comes with a full sized cartridge and seems like it hold a 2nd short standard international in the barrel. *However, neither a full sized Schmidt cartridge converter nor a Faber Castell one would fit - be careful.** Section - The section seems to have been cast/molded in two parts leaving two sharp annoying feeling lines along the side. Seriously Waterman???I like the aesthetics of this pen and it fits nicely in my everyday carry pen wallet. However I would not use it as a daily writer and definitely glad I didn't pay any more than I did. In my opinion, unless you need a slim pen, at this price point (£20-£30) a Faber Castell Loom is a much better option.

Bring Back the Written Word !!!!
The joy of writing is lost .................. to most people these days. This fountain pen is a beautiful writer, lovely to hold, very well balanced, very attractive pen. I enjoy writing with this pen, I cannot help but feel happy when I write with it, not at all like an average biro which feels awful. More people should write with ink in a fountain pen, especially the young, It teaches you a lot about words and the enjoyment of words and writing, this pen is an extension of you when you write with it, no modern device, such as tablet, or pc can give you that.

Lovely
Some time ago I decided to buy a decent mechanical pencil, and went for the Waterman Hemisphere. I've been using a while and loved it, so decided it would be nice to have a fountain pen to match. Eventually, when the price was at a level I felt I was prepared to pay, I went for it, and I have no regrets. The pen is just as lovely to use as the pencil; it's comfortable to hold in my hand, is a good weight, and smooth across the page. I've bought a refillable adapter to go with it, but haven't used that yet as my first cartridge isn't empty.

Scratches whilst writing but thin writing with fine nib
It is a fine sized nib but it is very flimsly and thin. The nib flexes a lot and scratches the paper and thus not smooth to write. Others have mentioned such writing flaws in their reviews. On the outside it looks nce, but on unscrewing the end the inside looks very cheap plastic. On the part where the writer grips the pen there is a fine plastic join line that makes it feel like a cheap pen.The positive for the pen fine nib version is that does write thin lines. But when writing at normal speed, parts of letters may not get ink.I really liked it for the first hour but on writing a lot more the above became apparent and I returned it. Maybe if the nib was made of stronger gold platted steel it might not scratch the paper. So, I would recommend the Cross Century (very thn pen and fine nib) - only a few left on Amazon or the newer but bigger Cross Century Medallist 2 with a fine nib.

Just perfect as a starter fountain pen
This arrived and I was truly excited. Its a long time since I have used a fountain pen and I was not disappointed. I wanted to go very expensive, but thought I would train myself back up first. Well, they certainly know how to make you feel in control with this one. It is sturdy, handles well and it just glides across the page. not sure I need another one as this has now become a bit attached to me.

A quality fountain pen
First impressions about this Waterman fountain, in terms of its aesthetics, are that its livery in matt black and gold trim looks really fine. I am no fountain pen expert; my fondness for their use is from my school days, where biros were forbidden, and fountain pen of some description was a must. Anyway returning to this particular pen, it holds well in the hand and writes well – as it delivers a nice consistent amount ink for the written word. All in all a good fountain that writes well

Beautiful Pen
Bought for a gift, very well received.Beautiful pen for the money.. and the box was way nicer than I expected. There is room for a second pen/pencil so would make a lovely presentation pack and room underneath the pen are for a couple of boxes of cartridges or a converter if you want to use bottled ink…A really lovely pen

An object of beauty and a fine writing instrument!
This pen is an absolute joy to write with!! Even my untidy scrawl looks better when I use this, and it is a tactile delight, so that the chore of letter-writing becomes an almost sensual pleasure. I've long been a fan of Waterman pens - one of the few remaining bastions of good craftsmanship, imo - and the Hemisphere range is an affordable one, although it certainly doesn't stint on the iconic Waterman quality. This is a slim, lightweight pen to hold and the nib glides smoothly over almost any writing paper - even a heavier, slightly textured paper. I love it, but whilst I find it the perfect writing instrument, it might be just a tad too delicate for male taste! :-)
