Q: Don’t they block the light so lower shelves are dark?

No they r light in color & does not give your refrigerator a dark look.

Q: Can you use these in an upright freezer with glass shelves?

Yes. They can be used in the freezer. I used them in the french door refrigerator and pull out drawers freezer. So easy to just take them out and clean them.

Q: Can you use these on wire shelves?

Yes, you can use these on wire shelves; however, they are a little over 1/16 of an inch thick. It comes in a roll, or it comes flat, but you don’t know what kind you’re going to get until it arrives, depending on how it is packaged. I bought two, hence the packaging. You do have to cut them up to the size that you want if you are trying to put them in your fridge. But if it is something like industrial shelving, this is not a thick, hard plastic product that you can stack lots of mason jars, or cans onto. But it will put a barrier between the wire shelving and whatever you place on it, it’s just really thin. I think it’s used to catch spills in your fridge and to make your fridge look pretty, but nothing more. I feel better about my fridge looking clean, colorful and organized; it gives a slight sense of peace in the smallest way. Honestly, no one‘s gonna see it and no one cares because the fridge door is shut and the light turns off, but it is pretty. Best of luck organizing your peaceful place.
