I would have given this hat 5 stars as it has a number of good points - It has a wide brim which certainly helps to keep the sun off your face and neck. The brim is strengthened by a fine wire around the rim which holds it in place and allows you to shape it as you wish. The head band inside the bag can be adjusted to fit your head by pulling and tightening a small ribbon. The hat come with a detachable cord that you can wear beneath your chin to keep it from blowing away in the wind. The material of the outer hat is a nice, natural cotton fabric.However, I am giving it only two stars as the item description and photographs are misleading. I did not receive the item photographed. In the item description it says the brim measures 4.5 inches but the brim of the hat I received is only 4 inches. The lining of the hat pictured is a white breathable mesh with a soft, pale coloured fabric headband whereas the lining of the hat I received is a thick, black, shiny fabric that is definitely not breathable. The headband of the hat I received is also black and very thick, rigid and feels like plastic. This lining and headband are of a far inferior quality than what is pictured in the item description and spoil what would otherwise be an excellent hat. It defeats the object of purchasing a cotton hat if it is lined with a thick non breathable fabric! The hat is therefore too hot to wear even on a cool day and makes ones head feel very uncomfortable!

Really pleased with this hat. Light, wide brim and folds flat

I wasn't expecting much. Just needed a hat to use on the beach that I could scrunch into a bag. I quite like it. Half the brim is stiff, half is just fabric. This works well as shields the eyes and covers the neck at the same time. Looks surprisingly good and the reversible aspect is an added bonus. Just washed it and it washes well.

I’m very pleased with this hat. So much better than straw ones that crush. The brim is nice and wide, and you can easily sit in the sun reading as it offers good shade. There is an additional tie cord with it that you can clip to little eyelets on the hat. Either over the top of the brim, and then you get a sort of ‘bonnet’. Or underneath, just to hold the hat in place in the wind, or hold it on your shoulders if you don’t want it on your head at the time. The brim is stiffer on the front side, you can turn the brim up a little if you want. Well worth the money, and nicely made from good fabric.

I'm sad because I really liked the look of the hat and the fabric was lovely. It looked just like on the picture.However the hat arrived folded flat (understandably) but the creases and folds are terrible. I haven't tried to iron the hat, as I returned it, but even if you did manage to iron out the creases, the big fold right in the middle of your face in the 'stiffened' part of the hat will be permanent. It really ruins the shape of the hat. I bought this as a gift but I have returned it the same day.The hat is a size L (according to the label inside) and even though I have a slightly larger than average head (size wise only!), it sunk well over my forehead and did not 'sit' like on the model.

Much much bigger than I expected - it will certainly keep the sun off. Have decided to keep it as need for holiday in the sun very soon, and it does have the tie beneath the chin which I specifically needed. I thought ladies from the East were all quite tiny, but this hat goes over my ears and over my eyes unlike the pretty lady in the picture!

Great casual sun hat with the extra features of detachable pretty bow and chin strap and the versatility of being reversible. Nice wide brim and material at back of brim doesn’t have any stiffening in it, so can be rolled up and fastened with the detachable bow. Well made, can be folded up and very good value for money.

This has a very wide brim at the back and nicely covers ones nape. The front is stiff and stays in position when bent up or left down. It does cut out the sun well and my transition sunglasses don't darken if I'm reading in its shade. I like the tie on it, as it can be secured in windy weather. I did find it a bit big. I'm hoping it washes and will shrink a little in the wash. It does roll up nicely to fit in a shoulder bag.
