Really great little PC, fast and capable with the right components
This is quite a great little computer for the price. At under $450 at the time of my review (after coupon) for the barebones version, all you need is a stick of RAM, an M.2 or SATA SSD drive, and a Windows license or Linux installation.I installed the following in mine:- TEAMGROUP Elite DDR4 16GB Single 3200MHz PC4-25600 (install single RAM sticks into the bottom slot)- A Samsung 980 PRO PCIe Gen 4 M2 drive (I started with an older Corsair PCIe x3 drive but decided to upgrade for even more speed)- A valid Windows 11 Pro license that I got for $25 from a reputable source.First, I unscrewed the bottom and inserted the RAM into the bottom slot and the M.2 drive into its slot. Then I reassembled and attached the box to my monitor using an HDMI cable and attached a USB mouse and keyboard. I downloaded the Windows 11 boot disk creator onto an 8GB USB drive on my laptop and inserted it into the front of the computer, turned it on, and proceeded through Windows 11 setup. When it went to restart the first time, I got a blue screen: "machine check exception". I looked online and it said it was a hardware failure, which concerned me. But I simply removed the USB drive from the computer and restarted the PC so it can continue with the setup and it did so successfully.I am using this box with a 49" widescreen at 5120x1440 over HDMI and even though most of Windows 11 setup looked like garbage on the screen due to low resolution, when the drivers got installed the display looked perfect at the proper resolution. The USB-C ports appear NOT to support video output, however. HDMI or mini-DP only. The computer is nice and fast with the components I chose. Operating temperatures haven't been a problem for me at all yet. The PC also comes with a VESA adapter for mounting on the back of a monitor, for example... a nice thing to have included. If you have extra laptop RAM and M.2 or SATA SSDs, this is a great barebones kit to make use of them. Even if you have to purchase some inexpensive new RAM and drives, it is still worth the cost in my opinion. Five stars. Great Mini PC with NO Ram/SSD/OP
I am an IT Professional and for more than 25 years I am inside the tech industry. I had Intel NUC 11 NUC11PAHi50Z Mini PC Barebone Kit which means No Ram / No SSD / No operation system include. I had mini pcs before and all came as a whole package with everything. I got this one because I can do whatever I want with it. I do not need to stick with the 2x4 GB Ram configuration or 8x2 GB Ram and the same thing for the SSD. I do not need to stick to whatever comes with it. So this gives me freedom and I love it!As a barebone kit, we getting Intel i5-1135G7 4-Core, 2.4 GHz–4.2 GHz Turbo, 28W Intel Iris Xe Graphics, WiFi 6, BT 5.0 Thunderbolt 3, 8K & Quadruple Monitor Capable system and hardware. I installed 32 GB Ram and 1 TB M.2 storage and Windows 11 Pro as the operating system. The mini pc is made really well and it is a solid material. Right now 16 GB + 512 GB SSD version exists so if you want you can go that way too. If I compare the price differences I paid a little bit more but I got the double size of Ram and storage. The choice is yours.Intel i5-1135G7 4-Core gives a really solid performance with 32 GB Ram and 1 TB M2. This is a great office and daily usage mini pc and I am really happy about it.HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
