Not Square
Faithfull are one of those companies like Irwin Tools: they make some great quality tools, but at the budget end, and with consumables, sometimes they are a bit hit and miss. I love my Faithful files, and their hickory axe and hammer handles are cheap and great. These however, are tat, and its not like they are the cheapest on the market either.I cant speak for their strength because I cant test them, but they look "fine". My issue is that they are not square. And I dont mean they are slightly off, I mean "they look like they were made by a drunk".They are not true squares, and they are not all the same shape.I got these, with some 50mm mild steel bar, so I could cut up some back plates, and bolt them onto boxes very securely. The job should have been simple. Measure up, and make ten back plates. HOWEVER ....Since they are not a uniform shape, and they are each slightly different, I have to mark, cut and drill, EACH and EVERY backplate individually, to make sure they fit and the holes align. I have to pair them all up, and keep them together AND oriented the right way through the hole process.Instead of make a batch of backplates, now I have to individually craft all ten. Thats turning an hours work into 5 hours work. An automated job has become an exercise in hand crafting. Im not exactly sure HOW you can make these things in a factory and make them all so different in shape.If you need one, so you can chain a bike to a fence post, these will be fine. But if you are actually doing a proper job, pay slightly more and get some proper plates made in a factory where they dont drink 5 pints at lunch and then slouch back on the metal press.If I had noticed how completely borked these were when I bought them, I would have returned them. Nice coating mind.
