Far from being off-putting, it gives the keyboard a premium weight and feel that's as reassuring as a safety net. Plus, its silver colour only enhances its sleek, chic appeal.If typing on this keyboard was a sport, I'd be a world champion. The keys are indented just right, making it less likely that your fingers will stray and hit the wrong key. As someone who's spent an inordinate amount of time on Apple's pre-butterfly keyboards, I can confidently say the MX Keys matches that comfort, if not surpasses it.A standout feature for me is the ability to pair the keyboard with up to three devices and switch between them using the F13-15 keys. I've got it connected to my MacBook, Windows PC, and iPhone, and it's like a well-choreographed dance the way I can move between devices.The smart illumination feature deserves its own applause. It lights up as your hands approach, adjusts to room conditions and is mindful of battery life. As an often late-night typer, this feature has been a game-changer for me.Battery life has been stellar; even with my heavy usage, I rarely find myself reaching for the charger. And when I do, the USB-C to USB-C charging system ensures that I can continue typing away while it drinks up the juice.In conclusion, the Logitech MX Keys for Mac is a true paragon of keyboards. •How easy is it to set up?Bluetooth pairing was as easy as it gets. Switch the keyboard on and it’s automatically in pairing mode, indicated by a flashing light on the F13 key and the backlight pulsating. If you don’t already have a keyboard connected then macOS will already be searching for one and you will see “MX Keys Mac” show up. Click connect and type in the code followed by pressing the return key. Once connected, the keyboard will stop flashing and is now ready to use.If you choose you can download the Logitech Options app which gives you a quick and easy way to customise the keyboard.•How does it feel?Coming from the very similar looking Apple Keyboard (pre butterfly key days), MX Keys feels just as good. It has all the same Mac keys and the same layout. It is made of metal which affords the keyboard a pleasing and reassuring weight as well as rigidness, which is welcome in such a thin form-factor. The keys feel very much like the Apple ones however I find the indented key caps are significantly more comfortable to type on, with my fingers more often finding the centre of the key and therefore being less likely to miss and hit the corner of another key.•How reliable is it?The bluetooth connection is absolutely rock solid. I haven’t yet had it lose connection or go out of range. All of the keys have worked flawlessly and the battery has never run low unexpectedly. I am totally comfortable using this keyboard for live and mission-critical tasks. The first keyboard I received had some issues with the backlight, but this was easily replaced by Amazon.•What are the features like?The ability to pair with up to three devices and quickly switch between them with the F13-15 keys is very handy to say the least. I have my keyboard paired with my Mac, with the Windows Bootcamp OS on my Mac and thirdly with my iPhone. When I want to switch from macOS to Windows I simply need to hit the F14 key while the computer is restarting and it works straight away. If I want to quickly type a long message on my phone I simply hit F15, the keyboard immediately connects, and I hit F13 to hop back into macOS when I’m done. The only downside to this is those three function keys which are now taken up, meaning they can only be used for custom shortcuts by holding down the fn key.The backlight is pretty much identical to the ones you’ll find on MacBooks. Just as bright, just as uniform and even the spill from under the keys looks the same. Adjusting the brightness is achieved by using the same shortcut buttons on the F5 and F6 keys, and if you’ve installed the Logitech Options app you’ll even get an on-screen overlay showing what it’s set to. There’s also an ambient light sensor built in so the backlight will dim slightly when the room gets dark, and brighten when the lights are on. The backlight activates automatically when your hands approach the keyboard or when you press a key. This is a capacitive sensor using the metal body so it works anywhere on the keyboard, and also works by simply touching the metal. I often leave my left hand resting against the side to keep the backlight on while I’m just quickly using the mouse. The backlight automatically turns off when the keyboard is idle and it does this quite quickly but there’s no way to adjust how quickly. I’d like it if it stayed on a little longer. It does however stay illuminated while the keyboard is plugged in to charge, somewhere I will likely leave mine.The battery life is highly dependant on how you use it. Occasional use will see it lasting many months, whereas with constant use every day you will need to recharge more often. Recharging times are quick and you can still use the keyboard while it’s charging so if it stays on your desk then it’s a non-issue.The shortcut keys included on the F16-19 buttons are handy and while you can customise them to do anything you want, the glyphs won’t change. So you’re pretty much stuck with the calculator button opening the calculator app as nothing else would really make sense, but it’s still nice to have. I also have to mention the large escape key - love it!The caps lock key has a white light to indicate when it is on making it easy to miss with the backlight on too, personally I’d have liked to see a green light there just like the Apple keyboard. If you have the Logitech Options app you will get an on-screen display showing you when you’ve turned caps on or off though.In conclusion, this is a premium low-profile keyboard at a premium price and it meets my expectations. I would happily purchase it again.

I've used these keyboards from logitech for years and find them very comfortable to use for long periods of time. Despite this being a mac keyboard it works fine on PC as well and I use it at work on PCs. The backlight comes on when you start using it and can be turned off easily if required. Battery life is good and the case is made of metal so feels very good quality. The logitech software allows you to set it up with multiple computers and has 3 separate device keys which you can press to quickly switch between various computers.

I really like the little scooped bowls on the keys. It feels very pleasant.

Die MX-Keys ist besser als alle anderen Tastaturen für den Mac, insbesondere auch einschließlich der Apple-eigenen Magic Keyboards für über 100€.Tastenanschlag hervorragend, dazu noch beleuchtet und aus Metall. Kann man echt nicht meckern.

MX Keys è un’ottima tastiera a mio parere! Ovviamente ha i suoi pro e contro.I tasti con la forma incavata sono molto comodi da utilizzare, la corsa è buona nonostante sia una tastiera a membrana e il feedback tattile è soddisfacente. La connettività è buona ma richiede l’ultizzo dell’app LogiOptions di Logitech per poter collegare la tastiera al meglio e personalizzare alcune funzionalità dei tasti. Molto comodo è la possibilità di cambiare dispositivo a cui ci si collega tramite i tasti dedicati.La retro-illuminazione è buona e si attiva quando si posizionano le dita appena sopra la tastiera. C’è un po’ di blessing sui bordi dei tasti ma si nota solo se guardi la tastiera da una certa angolazione. A me non disturba ma so a chi può far noia.Due contro che mi vengono in mente sono la preoccupazione di quando si romperà un tasto e il fatto che l’inclinazione non sia regolabile se non per aggiunta di uno spessore da parte dell’utente .Comunque, tirando le fila, è una buona tastiera ma forse un po’ costosa, per questo io l’ho presa usata.

Excellent keyboard cordless and give a great feel when typing

Looking for a new keyboard for your Mac. Stop. You found it. This is the keyboard you want. I received mine a couple of days ago and I couldn't be happier. I was looking for a full-size keyboard to replace the one I'd been using with my iMac - it was the old wired keyboard from my 2008 Mac Pro. I couldn't get on with the little thing that came with it, and as I already have the MX Master 3 for Mac Mouse, this seemed the obvious choice.It's solidly built, and reassuringly heavy. The layout is perfect, the keys are very nicely shaped, the slight tilt is ideal and it's very comfortable to use. I had no trouble at all pairing it with Bluetooth - I haven't tried the supplied dongle as it doesn't add any utility for me, and would just consume a USB port, so Bluetooth it is. The best feature is the key backlighting. I work a lot in the evenings, in low light and got tired of peering at my keyboard to see where the keys are. This solved that problem entirely, and works beautifully. That single feature makes it worth the price.It charges quickly, can still be used while it's charging, the programmable function keys are very useful... there's just nothing wrong with it at all.I couldn't be happier. This is the keyboard Apple should have made.
