Worth buying for Widor's Toccata alone!
An excellent album which manages to update classical pieces without destroying them. If anything, in my opinion, the synthesized reworking of Widor's Toccata in F is as good as when played on the church organ. This piece is my favourite on the album and it is truly majestic with electronic voices "singing" a kind of anthem during various parts of the track.Other highlights include Beethoven's "Sonata Pathetique" and the "Polovtsian Dances" by Borodin. Rimsky-Korsakov's "Flight of the Bumble Bee" could well have been performed by the creatures! Another wonderfully performed piece is the "1812 Overture" by Tchaikovsky.I cannot rate this album enough. A truly great reworking of some of the finest classical music.

Masterworks again
I happened to find the LP (yes, they existed) Masterworks somewhere in the eighties in Wales, UK.Ever since, it kept dwelling in my mind where to obtain a cd with improved quality compared to the LP, being grey and full of ticks.I found it eventually on Amazon! It's just a true masterwork of masterworks.Expressive synthesizer music, with the right twist of classical music in it, although the electronic instruments of that era don't come close to today's quality of instruments. No, it's just the way the instrument is being played to give it the classic feel. And that's exactly what both the performers and producer understood quite well.Happy to have it after all those years!
