Very informative.
Just what I was looking for. Good condition. The projects were easy to follow and consisted of straight forward instructions and comprehensive parts lists.

good but watch out.
Is a good book to learn from but it's is very old and you'll need a record player to listen to the floppy lp in the front of the book. You can learn about makeing the projects but it's very hard to make them as the printed circuit board designes. I manege to work out the vero board layout from the schematics but it was tricky. If you wanted to etch your own board in not sure how you would do it, you would have to draw it by hand or try and replicate it on the computer but as the pages are yellow by age, you can't just photocopy it.Don't get me wrong, it's a good book for guitarists with a nice section on how to re wire a guitar. All in all I'm not disipointed with this purchase

Outdated
A good book if you bought it 40 years ago when it came out. It has some nice explanations of commonly found electronic components but imo pretty much all of the projects are completely useless as they're so outdated and use such old technology and no-longer made parts.

saying that the book does have some very useful info on how the circuits work & useful build ...
This book is very outdated, first published in 1975, you can get many schematics from the internet which have been updated to work with modern components, saying that the book does have some very useful info on how the circuits work & useful build & component advice but as to building the projects you're better off looking on the web.

Really interesting
As the title explains... a good starting point in understanding electronic, specially for guitarists but not only.

Looks interesting but...
Outdated. It has been said before in other reviews but I took a chance as I am new to electronics and wanted to learn about it from a musician point of view. They were right, it is informative but shallow and a lot of the components mentioned are no longer made. Disappointing really.

Old, but some very good, well designed effects projects and basic info
This book was last published in the 1980s, so proceed (or not) accordingly. That said, it's great for what it is, and some of these projects have been mainstays of my guitar effects arsenal. It's also very good basic primer on old school (70s to 80s) guitar electronics, and some very well designed projects along those lines. Unfortunately, kits may no longer be available for some of the more useful of these projects, such as the Super Tone Control and Spluffer (splitter/buffer). The Super Tone Control, for example, is a parametric equalizer that can really, really open up the tone of my little Vibro Champ amp, and give it some real bottom end.One might check out PAIA electronics, which used to supply the kits via mail order, and has a web site, to see what they may have on hand. Otherwise, you'd have to cobble together the parts from online suppliers, but the lists provided with each project are comprehensive, and I'd expect such basic parts or their equivalents to be available. The basic concepts and projects are explained very well, suitable for a beginner.

Bon ouvrage

Should be a course in high school
It's easy to say that some previous knowledge of electronics will help you in building some of the projects in this book. I think this is more for a hobbiest looking to build any electronic. Great information on casing your projects.

Awesome sauce
This book is awesome. I started building my own effects pedals and found this book cited online. I understood enough to not really need the first four chapters covering the basics, but I wished I had had them when starting, they do an excellent job. The projects are a pretty cool collection - I never would have thought to do some of them, like the passive tone control circuit using an inductor. This book is great if you want to get into building circuit diagrams you find online, as these circuits are a bit simpler and more thoroughly explained. The book is slightly dated, but a few projects in so far I've not run into any unavailable parts or anything.
