Q: Do these get to hot to touch after microwave?

No, not hot at all to touch after microwaving which was one thing I had been concerned about before purchasing.

Q: are they heavy like stoneware?

They are not as heavy as stoneware , flatter and stack well for space . I like and bought them because of the litle lip that keeps this 85 year olds food on the plate.

Q: Some of the pics of the Khaki plates look like they have little black speckles and some don't. Are these plates speckled?

Mine are not. Very nice plates. I love mine

Q: Do knives make a screeching sound against the plates when cutting?

No more than on any other smooth plates.
