Good for a fence.

This is a great little kit and makes building a gate so much easier. We're definitely DIYers (and I'm a beginner at that). This project made me realize (and have validated) that there is such a thing as cheap screws. Ones where the metal is soft, doesn't go in well, and strips the heads quickly. If I had known this, I would have just purchased good quality screws and started over. We were screwing into pressured wood and some of the screws just did not go in.

Straightforward and quick way to build a sturdy gate. The description says screws are included...it actually has 2 extra long screws and is short 2 short screws for the latch. It also lists a driver bit and a drill bit in the enclosed literature as included. There was no driver bit and the drill bit was so dull as to be useless. Minor stuff.

Works great as a gate platform for a 3.5ft picket fence (44" width). Very sturdy, and I expect it will be for years. Easy to assemble. There are some concerns in the reviews about every angle being 90 degrees. I would say my kit was very, very close to 90-degrees on all four brackets, but even if it's off slightly, it's not a problem to end up with a fine-looking gate (with very minor adjustments). The price was good, as well. Pleased with purchase.

This has added support to keep it square, I feel strongly it will correct my issue for years! And fit well glad I found this kit!

This kit allowed quick assembly of a fence frame. However, the parts aren't particularly square (perpendicular) which means if you are particular, plan on some extra time to square up the frame and clamp the boards down before drilling some pilot holes for the hardware. We just laid it down in the driveway and ran the screws in with an impact driver. The gate has a little twist. Not all the fault of the kit but it didn't help to straighten things out. The hinge strength seems good and I like that it did have flanges so you can attach with screws from multiple directions. The latch part, however, was flimsy for the size of gate we were building. Ended up replacing it with a more substantial latch. Numerous welds were not complete along the length of the brackets and there was already some rust showing. The powder coating (or whatever they used) probably couldn't make it back into the small gap that wasn't welded shut. Next time I will probably buy the hinges and latch separately and build the gate frame from scratch.
