Gevi Electric Burr Coffee Grinder with 35 Grind Settings for Espresso, Drip, French Press - 120V

We really like this grinder. The multiple settings allow you to choose the grind size and the duration of the grind. This results in us grinding exactly the amount we need and having the grind be the right size every time. Noise is unavoidable with grinders. This is quieter than our manual grinder though. One thing that happens, I'm sure with all such automatic grinders, is that the beans get stuck in the hopper and don't drop down. When that happens, you get less grinds than expected. We just tap the side of it while grinding and it results in a consistent amount. We do espresso and the automatic setting for 1 cup (the option on the left) puts out almost exactly the right amount of grinds to fill the portafilter to the top. I tried going directly into the portafilter, but it's messy. The easiest thing I found to do was to use their cup and "pour" the grinds into the portafilter. Over time, the grinds do stick to the side of the provided cup (we run it through the dishwasher). But a little tap generally allows the grinds to slide out. If there was a more "permanent" stick-free solution to the cup and some solution to gently vibrate the machine to always ensure the beans would drop, I would say this is perfect (well, maybe if there was some noise shroud?)...

Overall: I wouldn't recommend the Gevi Burr Coffee Grinder to anyone looking for a consistent, hassle-free grinding experience. While it has some redeeming qualities like acceptable noise level, its shortcomings outweigh its benefits.Pros:Moderate noise level: The grinder isn't obnoxiously loud, which is a plus for early morning coffee sessions.Cons:Portafilter incompatibility: The portafilter adapter doesn't fit with a dosing funnel, hindering workflow and creating a messy situation.Excessive grind retention: Losing 1-2 grams of coffee every grind is unacceptable, leading to inconsistent extraction and wasted beans.Cleaning nightmare: Daily cleaning is necessary due to retention, and the process itself is cumbersome. Using the hopper cover as a makeshift bellows and hitting the grinder to dislodge grounds isn't ideal.Grind setting adjustment risk: The cleaning process inadvertently changes the grind setting, adding an extra layer of frustration.Alternatives: You can find better grinders with minimal grind retention and portafilter compatibility for just $10-$20 more. Invest in a grinder that respects your beans and makes your coffee ritual enjoyable, not a daily struggle.

Form and function at a modest price.... then some!This thing rocks! Precise control of your grinds, pretty quiet and at an unbeatable price tag. This coupled with my Casabrews Espresso Machine are an unbeatable duo!The quest for the perfect cup of coffee is finally over........ just buy it!

ORIGINAL REVIEW:I was hoping not to have to spend $200 for an espresso grinder. Good news: this grinder can definitely grind fine enough for espresso. Bad news: the grinder jams up a lot. Stirring the beans in the hopper tends to break the logjam, but it often takes well over a minute this way to grind 17g of beans. The portafilter rack isn't very useful because the output is so inconsistent and piles up near the back spilling out of the portafilter. I did have some success putting a small scale on the floor of the grinder then putting a portafilter with a tamping collar on top of that, but it was a precarious setup.I was glad to be able to start making espresso with an $80 grinder, but I replaced it pretty quickly with a more expensive one.EDIT: Original review above. I changed from 2 to three stars because Gevi contacted me and offered me a refund based on this review. It was not conditioned on changing the star rating but I think it's justified.I had to go back and forth in messages a few times but they fully credited back my purchase cost. Knowing that they will do that makes the purchase a bit less risky.The grinder does work, it wouldn't be bad to have a spare but it requires a little too much fussing to be useful for me personally.

Excellent job grinding for expresso machines. However, few days ago I got a coffee that was more oily than regular coffee. It was a mess, the motor slow down and I have to stop the machine to prevent damage. Cleaning it using the tools and following the instructions was not enough. I had to use a dust buster spray. For that specific coffee I set the grinding to 10 (coarser of the fine settings) and sofar works OK.Did I got a lemon, or is it underpowered for some more challenging types of coffee?

This is a great grinder if you’re willing to tolerate a little frustration. There are two product features that are worth knowing - after a few minutes the grinder will shut off and I can’t figure out how to turn it back on without removing and inserting the plug, and that the tactile buttons are not very responsive which makes precise grinding a challenge. I’ve been using this for two weeks but am not getting over these two problems. I wish I could return at this point because it takes a little too much fussing to make work.

The media could not be loaded. I bought this coffee grinder to compliment my Gevi espresso machine which I love. This coffee grinder has upped my coffee game and gives me so much more variety. There is many settings to choose how you want your coffee bean. From espresso to french press, it lets you do what you want! You can even choose how much coffee you want to make. This machine comes with its own jar and spoons in the lid. Cleaning is a breeze and everything is easily accessible. I would buy this coffee grinder over if I needed. Gevi support is also great and if you have any issues they are there to help with their lifetime warranty. Buy this if you want a great coffee grinder!!
