Beyond Horse Massage: Introducing the Masterson Method

I love this method for horses! Mr Masterson is a Pro! Excellent teacher! Can’t wait to continue to his clinics!

Since it's winter and there's not much else I can do at the barn, I thought I'd give this a try as a way to spend a little extra time with my two horses. I've been studying and using the techniques for a couple weeks now and I've been amazed at the changes I've seen in just that short amount of time! The soft expression on their faces tells me how much they enjoy it. And I've noticed that they just seem to stand a little more relaxed and move a little more relaxed. Jim Masterson does an excellent job demonstrating the techniques on the DVD, but he does talk a little too fast. My only complaint would be that the tracks of the DVD are organized into easily assessible chapters from the main menu. The main menu gives you the option to select a chapter, but when you click on the option, it won't open a menu to allow you to actually select a chapter. You have to play all and then skip through the different sections, remembering the title tracks at the top of the screen so you can find the chapter you want again. (Or maybe it's just a defect in the disk I have, perhaps??)

It seems like magic, voodoo or something but somehow this actually works. My husbands horse has a sore back, nothing would help, you push on it and he would almost sit down. A friend worked the Masterson method for about 15 min on him and it was fine. We had to get the book. My daughters horse who would never turn her head to the right, now will. It's easy, the horses like it and the book is well written with good pictures. We also got the video but the book goes into much more depth. It explains what things will cause problems, the areas to work on and how to do it I highly recommend it to anyone who wants their horses to feel good. It all works for some reason, just as well as a chiropractor and massage.

These easy to follow instructions will not only help your horse they also help build a trusting relationship between handler and horse. At first I thought it was some joke, how could such a subtle thing make a difference. Well, it’s amazing. My horse is finally comfortable and I’m not waiting for the chiropractor to adjust and spending all that $. Meanwhile my horse is more focused and useable than before. Cant say enough good about this.

I just returned from taking the weekend seminar with Jim Masterson. The dvd that goes with his book is the same title as the book and corresponds to the material in the book. equine massage is somewhat different from the book & some of the techniques have evolved. They are NOT the same dvd information other than the very basic principles that are taught in the course. I just ordered BEYOND HORSE MASSAGE dvd from the Masterson website & was told that it can only be purchased from them so I am very puzzled by how Amazon is selling this thru Bice Books. I highly recommend taking this course to refine the techniques shown in the book & dvd that make a difference in the horses.

Like any book or DVD on any subject, take what you like and leave the rest. All horses won't enjoy or respond favorably to allthe treatments in the Masterson Method, Some Love it, some pick and choose what they like. I've been working on people and now horses for over fifteen years, and I have found that rings true with any modality. That's why I always try to learn as many different ways to work out problems as possible, you can never have too many tools in the box.I enjoyed the book. I had purchased the DVD earlier, and I got a good feel for Jim Masterson's personality, which for some reasonmade the book easier to follow. I will continue to use it, I think he is a wonderful teacher.

I have been involved in horses for most of my life, I wish I had at my disposal the likes of the Materson Method on my journey from pony club years through Adult Competition Polo and Racing. The book is well illustrated and each exercise explained in an easy to understand format, I would recommend the DVD to back it up as some of the exercises are not as simple as they look or sound. Apart from the obvious physical benefit the method has had to my horses, the increase in bond between my horses and I has significantly strengthened. I highly recommend this method to anyone who wants to increase both the physical and emotional aspects of their equine friends no matter what level of discipline.

This is hands down been one of the best things I could have learned for my horses. I recommend getting the DVD to integrate the written words with the hands on work. Furthermore, would highly stress the hands on work in a 2 day weekend workshop. It will absolutely change your horses and the relationship you have with them. I am a competitor, who is always looking for that edge to keep my horses healthy. I regret that I did not find this book earlier.
