Tomb Raider: Anniversary (Nintendo Wii)

This game is addictive. It was my first foray into tomb raider and gaming in general when I first played it so I'm reviewing from a novice point of view, not an expert or experienced gamer. In this respect the wii platform is more suitable as the games are often slightly simplified for wii I think. Anyway as someone who loves fantasy fiction with strong female characters the concepts of the tomb raider games appealed to me so I have since gone on to buy and play underworld on wii as well as legend on pc. I have to say of the three legend was my favourite because anniversary feels very isolated and creepy in tone. The character Lara spends the vast majority of the game alone in various daunting, jaw dropping and sometimes sinister locations. However the story and lone progression really draws u in and makes u really connected. Yes the controls on wii can be awkward and yes it is hard. Sometimes u have to repeat jump sequences many times before u get it right. But the satisfaction from the levels and linear story progression make it worth it. I admit that I did cheat on a few areas using walkthroughs found online. For anyone stuck, these walkthroughs meticulously take u through every sequence needed so dont give up if u r stuck. Yes there should be more hints available included in the game box but u can find all the solutions u need online. I highly recommend Stella's tombraiders site for help.

I just started playing this and I am stuck already so early in the game; I used to play Tomb Raider games in the past & I completed Tomb Raider II on the computer and I have seen the films - Will they make a new Tomb Raider film, and will Angelina Jolie star in it; she was great asset as Lara Croft! Those double guns was her trademark! Also great archeological storyline and video and sound brilliant and controls great and good to help people to think on working out what you do next in the game!

I'm getting used to the controls, there different to my "Tomb Raider 'Underworld'", but I'm getting there, getting through the game a little bit farther each day, so yeah, I like it.

This is a faithful port of one of the better games in the TR franchise. Movement is swift and graphics are bright with rich colours. Not a criticism of this particular version but, every TR game on every console; the combat is clumsy. For 3rd person adventure games, they could all take a leaf out of the 'Uncharted' series for intuitive and engaging combat. Anniversary does a good job however, of drawing on what made the series so memorable in the first place.

This was bought as a new item and was certainly packaged as such. However as I found a previously saved game on it, it had obviously been used at some time in the past. In saying that, the game so far had played with no problems.
