Very good standard printer
As expected, having read previous reviews. Carefully followed the online instructions to set up and it was easy.Always buy Epson, and this is only my third printer in 25 years. I always buy Epson ink cartridges, because my first printer tanks filled up quickly after buying cheap copies.Print quality seems good rnough for what I need.Delivered as promised, on time.

Reliable everyday printer — compact and easy to use
I’ve had this printer for over a year now and it’s still working very well. I use it almost daily, printing at least 20 pages a day, and it has handled that without any problems.Pros:Compact size — doesn’t take up much spaceEasy to set up and connect wirelesslyPrints, scans, and copies reliablyGood value for regular home useCons:A bit slow, so probably not the best choice if you need to print large volumes quickly or use it professionallyOverall, it does the job perfectly if you’re using it at home and don’t mind waiting a bit longer for prints. I’d happily recommend it for everyday personal use.

Where to find you password for set up and chat to a human if needed.
This is a wireless printer working from your internet box and mobile. To set it up you will be guided to Epson website to follow and complete set up. You will need to do this. Its easy and help full. In nsetting it up press the option for WAN wireless NOT LAN. Your pass work for the set will be in your printer.Password lift up the lid and look inside the area, this is where your ink has been fitted. Mine was on the left had side. If you have any problems during set up, you can have a conversation with chat desk, you will see i think at one point a question make displayed, click this to go to chat. It will ask you questions and give info, first follow the instructions and if still having a problem then it will divert you to a human to talk to. Yep i did all this. But now sorted.

Would not accept genuine cartridges
I ordered this xp4200 printer to replace an existing Epson and was having problems after a few years.I chose this brand as I don't print a lot and didn't want one that I was tied into a subscription gor ink that I may never use, I wanted to be in control.I was aware that I may have to download the Epson app for the first time to set up the printer but was not a deal breaker as most stuff you buy/use has an app these days.I set up the initial printer components manually from the box instructions and then used the app thereafter to connect to my phone. However, if I'd wanted to I could have used the small printer screen to do this so the app is a nice to have for ease of use. Felt the app setup was a little long winded, not made clear in the app that passcode they wanted was the pass code under the lid of the printer itself not your WiFi code. Good idea to write the printer pass code down before you start. After the printer was set up it was easy to connect to WiFi.My main problems were that though I had input the cartridges correctly the print quality was awful. It appeared to be not recognising the genuine epson blue cartridge at a all. Followed all the nozzle checks, head cleaning, etc in help/faqs. By the time I'd done that multiple times I'd emptied the cartridges that came with the printer which are only part full. I had purchased a full set of genuine cartridges and replaced all them. Frustrating to find the printer had the same problem in recognising the same. At this point I gave up, had to be a printer issue not an ink one. Couldn't even get a decent test printArranged a return to amazon for full order and a refund was given. Collection was areanged by amazon CS. Worried if I ordered another printer from amazon, same model it, it may be from same batch and may have same problem. Or I could have just been unlucky?Ordered same printer from another big store website along with extra Epson cartridges. Replacement printer set up no issues. No need for nozzle/head cleaning. All setup inks still in printer and not needed to use ones I purchased. Perfect print first time used. The printer itself is compact. Like that is does double sided printing. Would have liked a flat bed paper feed but probably in more expensive models. You can use the control panel on printer to do most things, however, I find it a lot easier using the app to do what I need. I also followed the prompts in the setup to also connect my laptop so I can print direct from there as well as my phone. Like how you can see your ink levels in the app and laptop. My old printer did not show these which I put down to being blocked by Epson as not using genuine cartridges. A bit naughty really as without the ink level indicator working you can end up replacing more cartridges than needed. Some reviews here say that Epson blocks 3rd party cartridges, but will give them a go at some point as the replacement Epson inks are ridiculously expensive for what they are, especially if you do a lot of colour printing or photos. At this time I'm happy with the printer, watching the ink levels and monitoring how long the setup cartridges last before I need to use my own. To me, the control panel on the printer is of less use to me as I personaly prefer to use my phone. If you purchase this printer and the setup cartridges don't work, it may be the printer fault not the ink. What I did like was that though Epson do a replacement ink service, but this isn't mandatory to sign up to for low ink users where in that case you are paying for something you aren't using and don't need.Time will tell how long this printer will last. As a low and occasional user hopefully a few years.3 stars for the experience of this purchase as had to return printer as faulty and wasted my own cartridges in the process. Based on using a second one purchased elsewhere and seems to be working well, I'd give that 4 stars. Longer term use and experiences of my replacement printer would have to factored to store a 5 star rating.

Good Printer but cartridges provided do not last long
Why did you choose this product over others?:Good printer. Make sure to follow instructions carefully during set up. Cartridges with printer do not last long so make sure you buy additional ones.

Reasonably Happy
I have a preference for Epson as it is what I have had for a couple of decades now, so I am able to navigate the UI comfortably. For the price, I am reasonably happy. Reasonably... well, the ink they sent with the printer in the box didn't last long enough to complete the printer setup, so I went to my preferred supplier and had to buy some more—a shade cheaper than the cost of the printer but cheaper than Epson's product which was as much as the printer. The paper is fed from the rear, not from a tray underneath the printer, but that is because of cost again. If I were able to afford it, I would have gone with the XP-5200.My final comment is if you can afford it the XP-5200 is a better option in my view, otherwise, this is adequate.

Epsom XP-4200
Excellent printer. Easy to set up. Full page printing. Far superior to the Eco tank printer which I sent back as it wouldn't install the ink. And the XP costs a lot less too.

Need good WiFi connectivity
This is a good printer and produces good quality printing. But I have had problems with the WiFi and App required to operate it
