Could have considered it brand new, and most people wouldn't have known the difference.
Sony A7RV - Renewed. Camera came in the original packaging, with original OEM parts (strap, battery, charger, etc.) - Sometimes when you buy used, you end up with third party things and not the original packaging. In this case, it was delivered. The device is flawless, powered on just fine, no visible wear/tear, only minor scuffs around the lens ring, but this is not a problem to me. The sensor is fine, the device is in perfect condition otherwise. Screen is clear, sensor is clean. Everything functions, all of the button's work, it registers different lens just fine, and I've already used it a handful of times for client work. The autofocus feature is lightning fast! No overheating, no secondhand smoke smell, no apparent issues so far. The only drawback to how great this camera is, is simply how much storage space it needs with that 62mp pictures!

Good choice
Love it, after half year use it, for travel, landscaping, nature, animals, it’s one of the best camera for photography and video.

Brand new / open box
*Update 6/15/25: I was able to register the a7RV with serial number for warranty via the Sony product registration sight with no issue. My a7rV came with a shutter count of 3 , one of the shots being mine which is what I used to check shutter count. Meaning the camera was basically new so I’m very pleased. Tested all the features and all is working fine. I also have an an A7IV and an a6700 so there is really no learning curve. The updated menu system is the same as the a6700 which is also nice. The shutter and aperture dials needed to be programmed properly after setup which I don’t remember having to do on the A7IV or a6700 so that seemed a little weird but not a big deal. I have not tried to register it yet for warranty so will update the review to confirm whether that works as I suspect this may be a non-US version since it was set to PAL out of the box vs NTSC, but I’m not 100% sure it’s international so take that with a grain of salt. As for the camera itself it’s of the best that can be had in the Sony lineup, and comparing to the A7IV it has the AI chip enhancing auto focus , dual articulating screen and 9 million dot EVF , not to mention 61 megapixels of goodness. Video looks great in S-Cinetone straight out of camera. 4k60p has a 1.2x crop which doesn’t bother me (it’s 1.5x on the A7IV) so a little bit of an advantage there , although it does not use the full width of the sensor which is something to be aware of.

Great camera
Absolutely an amazing camera. I’m fairly certain it is a grey market item, but I’ll take the $700 savings over buying anywhere else. As for warranty, I have insurance for a reason. This camera is incredible and far and above worth the price point.

Excellent Camera but Lacking in Firmware Support and Digital Shutter Speed
It works and operates as it should, but the lack of firmware support and the poor performance in the digital FPS department compared to Sony competitors. This camera is great for wedding and limited nature photography. Hopefully an update to firmware can reduce the rolling shutter effects that plague this camera.

Great deal on a perfect condition item
This item included all original packaging and equipment (save the full instruction manual, which I don't know, maybe Sony is only publishing the online manuals and providing the QR code with the link, which WAS included). Some other reviewers have noted that the product they received was from a different region, or "grey market". In my case, I was able to successfully register the product to the Sony website in my region (USA), and even purchase an extended warranty for it from Sony, very satisfied about that. I also verified the shutter count on the EXIF data, and it turns out the first photos I took with this camera were the first activity on the shutter. It seems this product was actually brand new, probably not able to be advertised as such by the seller for legal reasons. A phenomenal deal! I also appreciate the fact that the seller ordered overnight shipping from FedEx and required a signature. I wasn't home the first time they attempted delivery, and it would have been a travesty to have an item like this just sitting on my porch, especially with the lithium battery shipping label advertising the expensive electronics in the box.

can't get the sony a1 mark ii but want to compete?
Okay, let me just say—this camera is fun. Upgrading from my trusty a7R IV felt like swapping a bicycle for a rocket. The autofocus? It’s basically magic. My dog sprinting through the park? The a7R V locks onto her like it’s reading my mind, nailing every blurry-paw action shot. And the video! I shot a clip of my niece’s dance recital in 8K, and the details are so crisp I can count the sequins on her costume. The flip-out screen is a silly little upgrade I didn’t know I needed—now I can vlog hiking trips without awkwardly tilting the camera like a tourist. Even the menus finally make sense (thank you, Sony!). Sure, the a7R IV was a powerhouse, but the a7R V feels like it’s laughing with me, not at me, when I try new stuff. If you love taking photos and messing around with video, this thing is like a playground in your hands. Worth the hype? Absolutely.
