Great and easy replacement for Analog unit
I bought this to replace the old analog Horstmann unit I had fitted to my immersion tank which had a minimum time setting of 4.5 hours. This new digital control unit is great, allows me to set the time intervals easily which will save me a lot of money as I can heat the tank for only a couple hours a night, as opposed to the minimum 4.5 hour minimum on the analog unit.Fitting took less than 5 minutes. Plug and play after removing the base plate, all the connections are easily labelled and the existing mounting plate didn’t need to be change.£70 is quite steep for what this is, but there’s no easy alternatives.

Easy to install
I bought this after my old timer packed in. I read some reviews and decided that I would try this. I fitted it on my own - very easy to install - so there was no need to pay for an electrician. It was working within 30 minutes from start of install to the finish. The timer function is easy to operate and I like that it has summer and winter settings too. Would definitely recommend.

Seamless upgrade from Economy 7
Bought this to replace a failed Economy 7 model. Because the new model shares the same back box, replacement took only minutes. The mains cabled are screw terminated, but the connection to the electronics is spade and tails, so you can leave the old back box in place, disconnect the electronics, and replace with the new electronic unit. A rare bit of solid design. Programming the new unit could not be easier.

Easy fit
Installed this as replacement for Horstmann manual e7 timer. It was an exact match and no need to change the back box, just unscrew the faceplate then unclip the wires from original timer and attach them to the new one. Done in 5 minutes. Equally simple to set up the times. I have mine set to be on for 2 hours in the night which is plenty; with the manual one the minimum setting was 4.5 hours which meant the water was heated too early for the morning and was then reheated during the 4.5hrs as it lost some heat. Now it heats once just before I get up so it should be more economical. Also my e7 times change when the clocks change and the manual timer was quite difficult to use in those circumstances, this one is much easier.Quality-wise the product was brand new in the proper packaging and has worked perfectly for a couple of months now

A good one, but could have been better!!
The only reason i am giving 4 stars instead of 5 is the lack of week programming. You have the option of programming 3 different times cycles in the 24 hour day/night in case you have Economy 10, but that is only it. Not a week programming. That is a big disadvantage for an expensive timer like this. It may a reliable one -i don't know yet- but i would definitely need a weekly program, to distinguish my needs for every day of the week. It would be convenient for every household.Apart from that, the screen is well lit, the buttons are big enough, menu easy to navigate, the case rigit and durable, manual understandable.

Simple and easy to program. Precise time, ideal for Economy 7 or standard.
Cant quite believe how fantastic this product is. After looking at many different models I finally made my decision based on the review of Amazon1 who had attached photos and I was astounded my old timer was the same as their old timer. So I had no doubt it would fit perfectly. It looks like it might be tricky to program but it is so easy and takes seconds. Infact it is so much quicker and more efficient than trying to set the old mechanical style timer. It is extremely precise as you can program it to the exact minute as oppose to roughly guessing on an old dial style timer. A very simple efficient design and from what I have read the Horstmann series seem to be pretty much all interchangeable. The other great feature my old one didn't have is its ability to automatically switch between summer time and winter time. You must have it set to this feature if you need it. I do as I have Economy 7 but it depends on ones own system. As it has a battery back up the clock did not need setting and was telling the correct time as soon as it was given power. The boost button will heat your water for one hour before switching off should you need it. So easy to use I wouldn't consider anything else. Comes with full installation and user guides.

Great Energy Saver
We’d been using an older model (probably 20 years at least) so when we updated the water heater we decided to purchase a new Horstmann. It was easy to install and easier to use compared to our older version. We have it set to come on during the hours that our electricity is cheaper to use. Heats up the water perfectly. We haven’t had to use the booster yet but I’m sure it will work just perfectly. Great energy saving product.

Works perfectly with Economy-10.
Nothing to dislike. An absolute doddle to fit: five clearly numbered wired tabs that push on to the stout copper connectors [correspondingly numbered] of the base plate fixed to the wall. A perfect upgrade for the original version that gave a fixed seven hours only of off-peak charge to the hot water cylinder. With this one you can programme the on/off and duration for three off-peak periods of your choice to exactly match the switching of your Economy-10 meter. Auto adjusts for GMT/BST as well.Designed to be backwards-compatible, so I left the old original back-plate from the former version in situ and just fitted the upgraded front panel.Works just fine.
