Cave Baby

Brilliant!
Bought this for my not-quite two year old niece and she loves it - the pictures are wonderful and only will get better as she grows up and starts to notice the hidden extras (there is a bear on every page, not necessarily where you'd expect.) I wondered if the story might be frightening for her (when Cave Baby gets kidnapped by the mammoth), but she has taken it in her stride. Lovely book, highly recommended.

Favourite with our kids
This is a staple bedtime book asked for every night. Replacement as old book is very loved.

Another wonderful book.
I brought this for my youngest son as it was a firm favourite of my daughters, who is now 12 when she was younger. So a lovely way for them to share some memories together . It was in great condition and well priced. Very happy .

Pictures a little scary for small kids
Bought for my 2.5 daughter for Xmas, am just hoping some of the pictures don’t scare her as the story is good but some pics look dark n scary.

Guided reading
As a primary school I used this book for a guided reading session focusing on inference questions and retrieving evidence from text to answer questions. This book linked in nicely with our current topic on the Stone Age.

Julia and Emily-a new team
I loved this book and Emily's illustrations rival Julia's usual great illustrator, Axel Scheffler. The only critisism is that on some of the pages, the print is difficult to read since it is on dark pages. I read books to primary grade children and like to hold the book up while I read. This print keeps me from doing that. Julia Donaldson is my favorite author and doesn't get the recognition she deserves here in the U.S. I have her last four books and have yet to see them published here.Love her website and share it with all my favorite little people.

It's good to be creative
I love the message in this book that it is good to be creative. When the mother scrubs out the cave baby's additions to her paintings my heart breaks, but he gets his chance to shine when the mammoth takes him to decorate his cave with his colourful paintings. It is a good message to children and parents alike (unless you paranoid your kids will start painting on your walls!). Emily Gravett's illustrations re wonderful as usual. However, I think I might love this book more than them as it hasn't been requested that often but I am hoping it will grow on them.

Cave Baby
This book is just wonderful. Our five year old granddaughter has been going to see cave drawings since she was a baby!! Hence, she loved it as did her Mum and Dad!!The words so descriptive and funny and the illustrations wonderful and the difference between the dark and bright pages underline the story to a great extent.Well done to both the Author and Illustrator - books by both have been bought in the past and this book is up there with the best of them.Recommdation is given unreservedly.
