Great for beginning "noodlers"
Like a few other reviewers, I didn't want a big, clunky device taking up room in my cabinets (especially something so specialized that it only does one thing), and I wasn't sure yet how into the whole veggie noodle thing I would be, so I'm glad I got this small slicer. It's so much easier than using my box grater, and the process goes much more quickly. It's fairly easy to clean with the tiny brush they included--easy cleaning is a big deal for me, I definitely don't like gadgets that have a million parts that have to be hand-washed. The end cap, which is supposed to be used as an anchor on the end of your vegetable, doesn't work at all, at least not for softer veggies like zucchini. It just shreds the end of the zucchini, instead of allowing you to turn the vegetable. It might work better for something harder, like a carrot. There's very little waste when you make your noodles, and the larger noodle size is really nice...the small size just seems too small, and just makes a noodly mush. Again, that part might work better for the harder veggies. The quality is okay; my husband remarked that he worried he would bend the metal if he were to use this slicer, and I agree that if you have a strong grip and got a little too into your noodling, you could damage it (again, if you are using this on a harder veggie that requires more force to noodle). Overall, it's good, I like it, but if I get really crazy about veggie noodles I would probably upgrade to a fancier, better-made, tool.

no instructions for use
This item comes with no instructions on how to use it, so unless you have used one before it is not helpful. Tried to do carrots but could only get tiny broken pieces, if any. Maybe with practice it works better, but was a little difficult. It seemed like a lot of waste since you can't hold onto the veggie past a certain point. Haven't tried on any other vegetables yet. Hopefully it works better. So somewhat disappointed.

Adequate slicing, questionable safety
I recently received the vegetable slicer and tried it out right away. I had carrot and potato on hand, so I tried them out. The spiralizer did turn them into spiral slices. However, the vegetable needed to be quite large in diameter to make long noodles, so my medium-sized carrots didn't work that well. I halved a small potato and that was more successful. The top, designed to hold the vegetables and protect your hands, was near useless with the firm veggies I used. It gouged pieces out of the vegetables but did not provide enough traction to hold the vegetable safely and keep my fingers away from the blades. I soon stopped trying to use it and just risked slicing up my hands. This might be different with softer vegetables, but I have not yet tried that out.Pros:Does a good job of slicing through vegetables (softer vegetables with a larger diameter like zucchini seem like the forte for this device)Low priceCons:Safety top does not hold vegetables effectivelyHarder root vegetables are awkward to slice safely

Okay product, bad customer service.
This review is mostly based on customer service. This spiralizer is wonderful for zucchini and cucumber, but not much else. Potatoes, carrots, and any other tubular vegetable simple won't work if jts not soft enough. The owner lf the company emailed me asking for feedback and I kindly stated exactly what I said above. My response was As follows: "Perhaps with the largest carrot is more quiet work, you may be able to use as a pencil sharpener" I don't understand what kind of mocking email this was but it greatly upset me. Don't ask me for feedback then mock me in return. Aside from that, great for zucchini and cucumber if that's all you want it for, get it.

and I used the regular long type of zucchini in my dish and it worked great for first time use
I received the Spiral Vegetable Slicer recently and made zucchini noodles with homemade pesto for dinner the first night!I grow a lot of my own veggies, and I used the regular long type of zucchini in my dish and it worked great for first time use! I ended up with noodles that were up to a meter long because I didn't think about removing the zucchini from the spiral slicer, but now I know for future use.I also tried using 8 ball zucchini in the spiral slicer... that did not work so well. The 8 ball zucchini is larger than a billiards ball, but by definition, is nearly as round as one. I cut the 8 ball into longs blocks that would fit into the spiral slicer thinking it would be fine. The flesh of the zucchini was too soft and just turned into mush. So I will not be able to use that shape zucchini in the future, and that's ok.Maybe a beet, a similar shaped vegetable, would be strong enough to be chopped into long blocks and put through the spiral slicer? So far, I am pleased with the Spiral Vegetable Slicer, and I do look forward to trying my cucumbers, carrots, and beets! I do want to share that I noticed some typos in the English description on the box, which is a non issue as far as the product goes (:

Poor design
I don't understand the cap thing. It doesn't reach down far enough into the spiralizer to be much help. A lot of the food you are spiralizer get gets wasted because you physically can't continue to rotate it within the spiralizer and the cap cannot reach. Overall, it does the job. Just poor design.

Family thought they were great. Best to use on zucchini
Made Zoodles and fried them. Served them under meatballs in a Moroccan sauce. Family thought they were great. Best to use on zucchini, cucumbers and sweet potatoes - easy and safe, because the blades are inside. A little complicated - I shredded the zucchini and wrapped them in paper towels. Shredded the sweet potato into cold water (so it wouldn't darken), then drained and microwaved them for 1 minute. Drained them again and patted them dry. Fried the zucchini and sweet potato quickly with some minced onion. A good substitute for pasta.Easy to clean - just rinse under running water. Comes with a little brush.

Good, easy, safe
Works, but it takes a long time to make a batch of 'noodles' by hand. Just made me want a bigger apparatus that works automatically or by hand crank, not by twisting like a pencil sharpener. But it's simple, easy and safe to use, easy to clean, and kids get a kick out of using it.
