Spear & Jackson 4903RSS Razorsharp Steel Telescopic Bypass Lopper, Red/Black/Silver

They are brilliant and sharp but unfortunately I can’t use them myself I am in my 60’s and they are too heavy for me

Cuts well rather heavy good quality but the extension keeps coming loose

Very sharp blades easily cuts through decent sized branches when shaping shrubs etc

Bought these to replace some "cheapo" Homebase ones which I'd had around ten years and were starting to get a bit iffy.Spear and Jackson used to be a trusted brand. Out of the box the blades did not bypass properly and had to be fettled before any use. The handles are not steel as described but are rather thin aluminium, which today simply snapped on a branch of around 25mm.Not worth half the price! I had to give these one star in order to submit the review - they're not even worth that. I guess its back to Homebase - or maybe even LidlFURTHER COMMENT:As the time for returns to Amazon had passed I sent them direct to Spear & Jackson. After a few inferences of having had them longer and misuse (all false) they sent me a replacement pair as a "gesture of goodwill". I have to say that these immediately feel better than the originals. The blades have been slightly redesigned and fouling each other is no longer an issue. Whether the handles will last longer, only time will tell. The redesign does suggest though that, just maybe, the Amazon stock is from a previous incarnation of the product and may be inferior to the current version.

Only minor issue is locking and unlocking the extendable arms sometimes means they unlock when you least want it.

Extendable handles don’t lock very well, at least one side always comes loose. Blade keeps catching and doesn’t always close properly.

A stroke last year has left me with difficulty bending my right knee . This made pruning my Rose bushes low down difficult with my usual standard loppers. The extending handles on these loppers have solved that problem and the sharpness and wide cutting width made the task much faster and easier than ever. I was impressed with the way it coped (without forcing) with the thickest stems which previously required a pruning saw. Pruning of all my shrubs, trees and roses completed in record time this season, (even with the dodgy knee).

The first loppers failed at first use, the blades buckled within a few minutes. It was too problematic to return to Amazon during lockdown so my husband rang Spear and Jackson to ask for a replacement. They sent us new loppers straight away and these have been fine so very pleased we bought a reputable make.

bonjour , je suis très satisfaite de ce produit coupe bien les branches c'est parfait pour moi , semble être assez solide , se nettoie bien , son prix est bien pour ce genre d'outil franchement correct , reçu bien emballé dans le temps indiqué , merci à bientôt

Troncarami Spear & Jackson 4903RSS. Prodotto molto scadente, usato per potare pianta ulivo dopo un'ora di lavoro gia era fuori uso, nel troncare un ramo di diametro 25mm si e rotta del tutto e contemporaneamente alla sua rottura, causava la mia caduta dalla scala. Referto di pronto Soccorso con 3 Giorno di riposo . Sconsiglio l'acquisto per che oltre ad essere scadente, è anche un prodotto PERICOLOSO !!!
