Works great and fit into my old table
Great product that was easy to install and works flawlessly. I converted an old swing mount sewing table to use this lift. It did come with instructions on how to operate and adjust the lift. Installation involves using screws (not supplied) to attach the lift to the table at the top and bottom bracket on the lift. I actually used bolts and washers to attach but this is because my old table is made of MDF vs solid wood. The unit is heavy but seems to be holding in the MDF fine with the bolts. I also added a cross bracket of solid wood to the bottom of the table for added support. Again this was because of the MDF construction of my old table. My sewing machine weighs about 20 lbs and the lift has no problem popping it up to the two upper positions.

Great product....but only after Three Tries to Install
It works well but the instruction sheet was NO help for installing it. Watch YouTube before installing to get a better idea of how it works. For the price I paid, I expected to have screws included. Rockler, you are a quality company, but you really missed the mark for customer support!

It would have been nice to have some kind of guide instructions for installing ...
It would have been nice to have some kind of guide instructions for installing it to help determine the strength of materials needed to support the mechanism. Trying to do it in the blind is not the easiest approach. Still working to finish the balance of the cabinet, but appears to be workable. Will need to find tune the adjustments for proper height.

VERY HEAVY, at the cost I really wish it had been an electricity controlled!
Absolutely NO INSTRUCTIONS On how to install what will be needed as in reinforcement. NO SCREWS! NO WASHERS! NO BOLTS! I really really am,praying my husband gets it installed before I die or hire someone to do it for me

Wonderful piece of workmanship...works perfectly for my stand!
My husband installed this lift into an older sewing machine cabinet that I purchased from a local auction market. He wasn't sure how well it was going to work, but after soome careful measuring and planning, discovered a way to make it work perfectly. My machine is a Brother Innov-is 950D embroidery machine so he had to be sure there would be room for the base to clear when it was lifted up from below and still be even with the top of the cabinet so use was comfortable. He used a piece of walnut (stained to match my cabinet) and attached it to the lift. The machine sits snugly and the embroidery attachment can be added easily when lift is in the full-use mode.I am so happy with how it turned out.

Carefully set this in the proper positions!
Like the Most: It does what it's supposed to do, which is to raise and lower the platform that the sewing machine sits upon.Like the Least: It isn't as sturdy as a previous version of the Horn lift that we purchased about 10 years ago for a cabinet we built. The other thing about this lift that I don't care for is that it has what I'd call a double click system (kind of hyper-extends it Up then back down) to set it in it's locked positions, and you must set the lever to lock it in position, which wasn't in the previous version. If you don't make sure to do this the platform is wobbly.

Two Issues
Strong mechanism. Two issues are: measurement conflicts on the design diagram, and in the initial break-in period the roller bearings will wear down the painted surface they travel against and the paint will chip off unevenly impeding the free travel of the mechanism without a little helpful push with your hand. Once all the paint is worn off it travels normally though. In general a good mechanism, but I hope it gets engineering updates.

A MUST HAVE for a sewing desk!
Bought this and installed it on a sewing desk I built. For some reason, I had it in my head that it was motorized?! Guess because the price was so high?! But after receiving it, I'm thinking it's far better NOT being motorized! It was SUPER easy to install and it has great motion. Simply, push it down, it clicks and comes right up! Then push it down to go down. It has 2 separate "stops" when rising. One so the sewing machine can be level with the desk and the other so the machine can rise completely out of the desk. The first setting is adjustable so there's no need to worry about the machine you're using it for. Also, this thing is INSANELY strong, so there's no need in worrying about the weight of your machine either. It's VERY high quality material and after about 10 months of use, there seems to be no stopping it.
