Fantastic book
Must have for anybody with a Nexstar telescope, especially better for the beginner. Not to mention, that Michael Swanson is available through email. I sent him a question about the batteries in the Evo, he responded within the hour. Just can't say enough about this book.

Excellent book for beginners!
I learned more from this book in 1 hour compared to the celestron telescope manual.I highly recommend this book for beginners that are using the celestron Nexstar 130SLT.Detailed explanations, easy to understand step by step instructions and other valued information. Glad I bought this book. It has helped me understand the mechanism telescope, alignment, go to. I can enjoy my evening night sky with ease!

A must buy if you own these scopes
The owners manual that came with the scope really do lack detailed information. This book covers all the gaps in knowledge on how to set-up and operate you scope. Well written and informative.

A must have for Celestron SCT owners
This book covers so much more useful info than the owners manual. I have the Celestron Nexstar Evolution 8.

Celestron should include this book with their telescope!
The operating manuals that come with the Celestron telescope leave a lot to be desired. One really needs a book like this that specifically delves into how to operate a Celestron telescope. It gives us so much more information that Celestron provides. Highly recommend this book. Even if it is 3 years out of date (2017), it is still very relevant.

The definitive guide for Celestron telescope owners
I bought a 5” Nexstar SE telescope off of Craigslist to use as a “grab and go” scope for my travel trailer. But I couldn’t get the alignment procedure to work! I bought Patrick’s book as I couldn’t figure out what was wrong by reading the owners manual. Viola! Got it aligned and working the next night! There is a lot of useful info that will be helpful in the future as well: I now know I want to get the Wi-Fi adapter and control the scope with an app on my iPhone/pad. Greater functionality and easier to do. A great reference for an experienced user - and lots of info for the beginner too!

Must have for new astronomers
This is a great book for beginners (like me) that go into great detail but in an easy to read way. Just enough tech speak so that I could understand it completely. Made using my new telescope that much more fun to use and new things to try. Thank you!

A Must-Have for Most Celestron Telescope Users
If you own any of the book's covered telescopes this is a great book.I've owned the Celestron 8SE telescope for 3 years now. It came with a many years out-of-date user manual. I am disappointed that Celestron would not write and include an updated version of their own manual. The first 20% of the book covers basic astronomy entirely unrelated to your telescope so I found all of this quite unnecessary. However, the remaining 80% of the book is filled with useful, and in many cases, very useful information specifically about your model of Celestron telescope. It is also filled with tips, advice and improvements on how to get a better experience with your telescope. The book deals with all external aspects of telescope's operation (not the mechanical and optical aspects). It handles them in a non-technical, easy to understand way..., what they all are and what they all mean.As this is a useful reference book that I will refer to multiple times I highlighted the useful sections. Then I wrote the high-lighted page numbers on the inside front-cover so I could easily find them again in the future. Using a GoTo astronomical telescope requires a lot of technical knowledge and experience before most people (including me) will be comfortable with it. I found the telescope very frustrating at first, mostly because I could only get 25% of my intended targets into my very small 10'x15' field-of-view (also compounded by my bright city skies making seeing the faint fuzzy targets difficult). With the help of this book (and online research) I can now get 75% of my targets into the field-of-view of my CMOS camera on the first try.I'm retired from new product development so I know this field. Celestron should write updated manuals, include them with their products and make them available online. There is no excuse for not doing this. Until then, this book is a must-have if you intend to seriously use your telescope for anything other than naked-eye targets. A great book.

Every Nexstar Owner Should Get This!
As my title says, every Nexstar owner should purchase this book. I now have it permanently in my telescope case for reference. I am an experienced user and learned many things by reading this book.On top of that, any questions I had were answered by a direct email from the author within a day or so. I cannot more highly recommend this for any Nexstar owner.Mike is also a veteran and I salute him for his service.
