Pure Filth: The diary of a 40 year old married woman Paperback – 14 Oct. 2013

I was recommended this new book by a close friend and in spite of it not appearing to be the kind of fiction I prefer to read and wary of it being just another book written for Women I decided to at least give it a quick read.What a pleasant surprise, once started I couldn't put it down. It is very well written with a good story line, plenty of very descriptive sexual activity which doesn't leave you hanging like so many similar attempts by other authors and just the right amount of comedy to make this a very amusing read.There is an underlying serious lifestyle dilemma and sense of achievement threading its way throughout adding more weight to the story and making this more than just another source of titillation for the casual reader with and ending that leaves you wanting more.I can't wait for the sequel which I hope will continue the story and be as exciting as this great book which was fun to read, interesting enough to hold my attention and wanting more.

This book has made me reevaluate my approach to sex completely. As a straight, 19 year old, male student i can say this book is not just for 40 year old women who want to change their sex lives but for anyone regardless of age, gender and sexuality. Personally, Sarah has changed my views of sex.As a young male, you never seem to understand how women discuss sex as it’s generally a taboo topic. However, reading this has really opened my eyes to how women will discuss sex as openly as men to one another but just with different body parts. Even at the age of 40, sex can still be as exciting as it was when you first lost your virginity.When I first read this book, it made me realize how much I could relate to Sarah with how miserable my life was both personally and sexually. After following how Sarah tackled these issues in her life, it spurred me to sort out my own. I found a new job, found some more trustworthy and loyal friends and started to grow my confidence after a relationship similar to Sarah’s where I wasn’t receiving any interest and was being consistently put down. Now, I’ve been with my current partner for 6 months and I couldn’t be any happier with my life. Because even though I am not a 40-year-old woman, I was able to relate to this book an incredible amount.After reading from start to finish, I was drawn into Sarah's journey, laughing and crying on the way, which in turn, has put me onto my own. It has allowed me to talk more openly to my partner about sex and how we can make the most of our sex life and attitudes to one another, which I cannot thank Sarah enough for.If you're looking for a real, raw and funny story about sex and the desire to change yourself, look no further.

I would very highly recommend this book - its certainly an entertaining read, but also has a lot more depth to it as well. I found I could certainly relate to Sarahs struggle with her domestic situation, and her journey in later life to explore her sexuality more fully, pushing the boundaries whilst maintaining a normal life raising her children. Her writing style is fast flowing and easy to read, and I found myself laughing at some of the situations she found herself in ! Pure Filth ? - well, it's certainly very explicit at times, but only in as much as necessary, with details as needed to get the story across. Mind you - even I found myself wincing in a couple of parts ! But that's what is so good, and unusual, about this book - it is about a real everyday woman, with a regular life. Its written with an open and honest manner, about feelings most of us can relate too, and we can certainly all learn from her experiences.

This book had me in hysterics laughing up to the point I'd read snippets to my husband who would laugh out loud at the same time! Pure Filth is a must read for any male or female! Its hilarious, sad, honest and most of all entertaining . Never have I read a book that has made me laugh so much at true life situations! Read it and find out why! As a forty something year old woman it's given me the strength to tackle the demons in my own marriage and help me gain more independence and freedom. This book is truly fantastic and I applaud Sarah Darling for her talent. Please can we have a sequel, I need to know what happened on New Years Day ! Thank you Thank you thank you Sarah !! X

I started reading this book as my husband was working for the author. We'll I could not put it down. It was full of amazing full on scenes that we all love about these books but also I was laughing out loud my kids thought I was nuts. It was truly a really good book from start to finish.

This book is an excellent read I am sure there are a lot of ladies could relate to Sarah with her demise. I laughed out loud at so many of the scenes and was so sad to finish the book I was enjoying it so much. I believe that for a lot of ladies and gents too that this is a must read. I eagerly await the next book. For me it knocked spots off 50 Shades of Grey.

Made me realise it's still ok for us to have fun and exciting sex lives once reaching 40 and parents of teens!!You need to check the children are not looking over your shoulder whilst reading, plus have partner on high alert 😂More more more Sarah, please hurry with sequel 💋

Just finished reading this book. It is by far and away the best book I have read in this genre. Needless to say, I've read "Fifty Shades" (books 1&2, but got stuck with the 3rd), but I felt they were rather far fetched. This one, however, has a fantastic realistic edge to it. I can hardly wait for the follow ups, as it was left dangling delightfully in the air. I've already recommended it to a number of friends and will not hesitate suggesting others pick it up now that I have completed it. Well done Sarah, just make the second as good as this one, please!!!

I loved it! I don't agree with everything she did but I can totally see that change is a journey that will have multiple failures and successes. It's the embracing of our own truth and loving ourselves outside of relationships that make the process okay in whatever way it needs to be.Yes this was a truth of humanity and vey much sexual in nature but what I loved was that each in counter wasn't perfect and neatly wrapped up. Sarah found herself and owned it. I'm glad I picked this one up as a suggestion from the book club I'm a part of, this was something I would not have read without the recommendation. Well done. I even learned a bit more about European English vs American English.

Such an amazing book. It's well written, sexy and fun, even humorous at times. As the main character struggles to overcome a horrible marriage in her own way you can't help yourself and cheer her on. I was pleased with the way the book ended and will look for other books written by Sarah Darling.

I love to see a strong woman as the lead character. She changed her life on her own losing weight and taking her life and her children's life in her own hands good for her. Really enjoyed this book.

What it says on the cover, a soft porn story set in England, told in the first person. The characters are plausible and quite funny, the club scene may surprise some readers.

Love this from the beginning. Could not put it down. Characters are great as well as story. I want more!
