Really recommend this book if you want to learn terraform from scratch

Terraform Up and Running keeps being one of the best books I have read not just for Terraform, but also for Infrastructure as code and DevOps practices. It is very practical, contains highly valuable advice and guidance, and most of all reads lightly. It quickly became my go-to book if I'm ever stuck on understanding the TF fundamental.sHaving read the previous, 2nd, edition, I can say from experience, that the recommendations from the book were very critical to the success of my team back then. Thank you!This new edition is even better. It takes you through the whole story - of why you would need Terraform in the first place, to the technical specifications (all code examples are for the latest version of Terraform too), to how you would incorporate these practices into your team so that you can deliver your product safely and reliably to production.I strongly recommend this book for new-comers to Terraform, and for seasoned IaC engineers too.

The book has a lot of information and it is really good for a beginner, however when it started showing a few example of coding it got REALLY confusing. I mean by showing a few lines of code that we should write but it didn't specify if we had to write in the same file we were writing before or in a new file(it happened), that's where I got really frustrated because I had to guess if I had to create a new folder with a new "main.tf" file or stay in the same directory. For someone starting to learn Terraform will mostly get lost.

Made from the lowest quality paper and some pages started to falling out even before I reached the end of the book. You need a lot of transparent tape if you want the read it 2nd time.

This is an excellent book that will take you from a beginner to a seasoned pro in using Terraform (if you do the exercises). It is helpful if you have some basic AWS experience. If you can create the following, you will be good to go:EC2 InstancesLaunch Templates/ConfigurationsAuto Scaling GroupsSecurity GroupsLoad BalancersTarget GroupsI read the book without doing the exercises just to get a feel for what I would learn from the book. The second time through I performed the exercises, and worked through any errors that popped up. If you are serious about learning Terraform and how it is used in the real-world, you should have this book.
