Excellent instructional materials
This series of textbooks provides the clearest and most concise explanations I have found, not only the past tenses but also the arcane and convoluted Spanish subjunctive which has been the bane of my studies to date. I can't thank the authors enough for delivering me from the fog of lesser explanations

Excellent book for Spanish students
I study Spanish at open university and have found these "Practice makes Perfect" grammar books worth the read. They give lots of examples to illustrate the causes and the theoretical part is easy to understand. These books give the much needed in depth knowledge to what I get to know during lessons.

Good for reinforcement
I am taking advanced Spanish and needed to review how and when to use past tense. This is my second Practice Makes Perfect book. I find it to be very helpful because it breaks the material down with clear explanations. There is a lot of practice to reinforce what is taught. It explains the imperfect and the preterite and how to use them when writing a story. Additionally present perfect, pluperfect, conditional, conditional perfect, are discussed. These series are great for reinforcement and I highly recommend them.

Full of Information, BUT very poor delivery
This book is full of information but it is presented in a form that has no "teaching ablility" for the average student. Yes, all the information is there, but unless you are an advance student of spanish or at the end point of your quest to learn spanish and NEED A REVIEW, seek help elsewhere. The other "Practice Makes Perfect" series books I own are extremly well done, which focus on: Verb tenses, Vocabulary, Pronouns, Complete Grammer, etc., but this one, "Spanish Past-Tense Verbs" is the absolute pits in teaching format for the average beginner/intermediate student. It has no expanded information on the lessons presented, but assumes you already know it all and need a refresher or expanded explination of the subject, definitely not for the novice or intermediate learner!Continuing Guitar PlayerH.C.

Practice makes parfect - past tense Spanish verbs
I loved this book! It helped so much in the learning and understanding of the two Spanish past tenses. I would recommend this to anyone seriously involved in the study of the Spanish language.

Perfect for your Spanish Journey
This is a must have for intermediate level spanish learners. We use past tense so often so this is vital.

Deja mucho por desear
No me gustó tanto porque este español es LATINO y las palabras son distintas. Debería afirmarlo antes. Y eso es

いいです!
わかりやすい〜!しかも、連続して、ニュアンスがよく把握できます。日本語→英語だと、ちょっとブレがあるのですが、こちらだと、安心して乗れます。初級者の方にお勧めです。しかし、英語はちょっとはわかった方がいいかも。

Excellent in-depth explanations and very useful exercises
Excellent grammatical explanations and the exercises make you think, understand and learn - particularly as in the appendix, there are full reasons given for the correct answers. After working though the first three chapters, my understanding of whether to use the Preterite or Imperfect in a given situation has improved immensely. I look forward to moving on through the book and consider the purchase price worthwhile just for the first three chapters.Previously, I'd used the other excellent Practice Makes Perfect:Spanish Verb Tenses by Dorothy R. and I was also going to Spanish classes, but I needed more practise and better understanding. This book, Spanish Past-Tense Verbs Up Close has given it to me.
