Good buy
I live in the Hawaii/Aleutian time zone but that's not an option. Not really a problem, though, because atomic time signal doesn't reach us. Projected time is easy to read. I wish the regular display had a dim backlight (available setting is still too bright for night time). Everything considered, price, accuracy, display, it was a good choice for me.

Projection is only fair, and there's a red background "pond". WWVB works well. Excellent LCD.
I have a venerable Radio Shack projection clock that I inherited, which projects crisply at 5'. I bought this Smartro for another bedroom. I am mainly interested in the quality of the projection, not the alarm functions, the LCD display (which is quite nice, but not needed by me), or the USB port.First impression: I just plugged it in, and set the time zone. WWVB (radio time) set almost immediately, and correctly. For reference, I am in a rural area outside Seattle, and this clock is located on a ground-floor room.I have it located on a chest of drawers, about 4.5' off the floor, projecting at a 45° angle to the ceiling for a distance of about 5'. With this setup, the numerals are ~4" tall, which I feel is adequate for viewing from the bed without spectacles. Due to the angled projection, the aspect ratio is stretched, so the numerals are taller than wide.As noted by others, the projection has a red, round-ish background, as if the numerals are lit within a dim, red "pond". The red background "pond" is about 14" x 18" at a projection distance of 5'. It does not appear objectionably bright in a darkened room, but it's definitely noticeable.Unfortunately, the focus is only fair to poor, and appears to be non-adjustable. Focus is poorer at 4' and better at 8' projection distance, though some graininess begins to show at 8'. Because the AM/PM indicator is the smallest element, the poor focus is most noticeable there. The numerals are more legible, and probably are in-focus "enough" for general use.[Update one month later]Another annoyance is that it turns off its display every so often in order to update the time, and for whatever reason it seems to be off when I want to see the time, such as 2:05am or whenever. My other projection clocks don't do this.[Edit Oct2018]The WWVB function stopped working shortly after installation. The display blanks for seven minutes every hour on the hour from 0100 to 0400 at least, possibly 0500 as well (I awaken at 0330). Removing a star.

Works great - must set the time zone
Item works perfectly ; gave this as a gift to an senior citizen who does not reside near me, so set up is a tad confusing for her. Luckily customer service emailed me, and I was able to guide the person through the time zone setting (clock kept reverting back to pacific time).

Projected time is great, but it's the wrong time.
The good: having the time projected is great. The bad: having the wrong time projected is not so great. After 10 days of use, the clock began to speed up by as much as 25 minutes. The overnight atomic clock updates only corrected it to being 10 minutes fast.Battery back-up: it desperately needs a battery back-up as resetting it is tedious. When it powers up, it automatically tries to do an atomic clock sync. That prevents the set buttons from working until you manually override the sync, which you must do in order to set the time zone.

Not worth it
It’s ok; not what I was hoping for. The over all quality is poor and it’s a pain to set the time on. The display has different back-light settings but goes from way too bright to way too dark. The projection is ok but the whole circle is lit up red (past ones I have owned only light up the numbers). The projection also randomly goes out for no reason. I ended up giving this to my teenage son and opted to get something different. I would not buy this again or recommend it.

Product works well and came in good, sturdy packaging
Ordered for my sister in-law because that was what she wanted for Christmas. Product works well and came in good, sturdy packaging. Item is smaller than I thought it would be, but size does not speak to it's use or quality. Overall I am satisfied with my purchase and my sister in-law loved it!

Cool projector clock but has partially broken after only a few months
Updated review: So I have owned this for a couple months now. The projector has half-died. The first 1-2 numbers are visible, but the last two numbers are so dim you can barely see them anymore. It seems one of the LEDs or whatever the light source is broke in there. The rest of the clock works fine, but as I was buying this mainly for the projector function I have to drop the score to a 2/5. It's kind of ironic because my first review I said it would be nice to have a dimmable projector... But this is TOO dimVery good alarm clock. Dimmable screen, two alarms, auto time adjustment, temperature and date displays, and you can even rotate the projector time display. My one and only comment about the clock is that you cant turn off the projector or dim it when you don't want it.

Great clock at a great price!
My favorite project clock. Works very well, allows for time synchronization so you don't need to constantly set the watch yourself, and the projection can be rotated multiple ways. Definitely value for money here!
