Great book. Great present for any household.
This book offers great insights into laundry. Especially about what works for getting your laundry clean, not using the high priced stuff they are selling you in TV commercials (which is actually worse for your clothing). There is a section on stain removal. You can find what type of stain you need to remove and this will tell you the best way to remove the stain using common household items like vodka or white vinegar. This is a great present for any household.

"You don't *have* to do laundry - you *get* to do laundry."
This is a beautifully written, joyful, inspiring book about my favorite subject - laundry. Patric Richardson's expertise and effervescent personality illuminates every page. Laundry Love distills his formal education in textiles, years of experience in fashion, and passion for clothing and cleanliness into a book that is just the right length. His methods are practical and he describes them concisely, with enough explanation of the science to be enlightening and helpful, but not so much that one gets bogged down in details. If something seems counterintuitive, he explains the reasoning behind it and makes it make perfect sense. Some fascinating history of laundry is included and even a little bit of poetry, which was a delightful surprise. I was a bit concerned before I read a book by an actual "laundry evangelist" that I would need to purchase a bunch of expensive tools and exotic potions in fancy bottles and spend additional hours doing laundry to follow his guidance, but that is not the case at all - using his methods will actually require far fewer products, all of them less expensive than what I'm currently using, and will take significantly less time. This book is so uplifting, informative, and enjoyable that I would recommend it to anyone, even someone who has no intention of ever doing any laundry. It's just that good.

Learned a lot, but wish it had an index
As a person who has (strangely) liked to do laundry and thought I had it down, I learned a lot of things I didn't know which completely changed my laundry habits. There is a lot of helpful information in the book with recommendations of products to buy, as well as a lot of products to *stop* buying. I feel like I'm treating my clothes better. My only complaint would be that the book could be organized better, with clearer headings and sections, so it can be used more easily as a reference later. An index would help as well, so you can access information more quickly. (I needed to find the section about mesh laundry bags and had to skim through many pages to get to the information I needed.). The book is written as a personal story, which is nice, but not when it's meant to also teach something with new rules and habits to adopt.

A Spot-Removal Bible
You will go back to this book again and again to solve large and small laundry issues. It's a fun read, and so useful. I volunteer at a thrift shop, so I'm often trying to figure out ways to rescue beautiful garments that have a stain. Some tips will change you life, such as the one about using speed wash cycle.

A useful book that's also lovely to read.
I heard the author interviewed on public radio and really enjoyed the way he expressed himself and talked about his family and his passion for cleaning. Unbelievably, it really is his passion. I loved this book, which has a real homespun quality. He talks about his family history, the people who meant so much to him growing up and what he learned from them. All throughout are stories about laundry "disasters" that he was able to correct in sometimes ingenious ways. I learned so much that was practical about stain removal that I keep the book handy just in case...

A Delightful Book!
This little volume is full of helpful tips and details about the age old task of doing laundry. It's a clever, thoughtful, and lighthearted book that serves as a primer for cleaning myriad fabrics efficiently. The book would make a thoughtful gift for a bridal shower. However, it's actually an ideal read for everyone who'd like to learn the best way to care for the clothes they wear and the fabrics in their homes.

You need this book if you like clean clothes!
This is the book I wish I had had years ago. I now use soap flakes and am not afraid to wash woolens without a fear of felting. The advice to use sodium percarbonate is eye-opening, as is the advice to use a horse hair brush. I now have clean clothes due to this book.

My best book find of the year!
Bought this on a whim as I love their idea of taking better care of the clothes we have than always buying more. This book does not disappoint at all. Handy tips and insights and you can tell there is a lot of love and care in there. Even down to the family recipes!I also own a small ethical and sustainable cashmere business and the information here will help me better inform my customers. I’ll be telling my friends in Australia! Thank you Patric.
