Dogku

This is such a cute book for readers and non-readers alike. My daughter received it as a gift about 10 years ago and now my grandson enjoys it so much that I had to get one for him. I was thrilled to find that it is still available.

My daughter just learned about Haiku in her poetry study. This was a fun addition to the unit. We all loved it.

Beautiful haiku that tells a story of a lost dog finding a new home at the same time. Appropriate for grades 1-5 frankly. Read it to grade 4 and then did our own animal haiku.poems. Some children told a story like Clements in haiku - others just wrote a couple of verses about an animal.

Clever, funny and well-written story of a homeless dog that finds a home with a nice family, written in haiku. My 8 1/2 year old neighbors loved the story. They had just learned about haiku in school and enjoyed reading the story and counting out the number of syllables. The illustrations are first rate, too. Highly recommended.

This book is just great! I wanted it for a mentor text for writing and it is great for that! Every page is a haiku about dogs!
