These are made super strong and solid; Works easily on wood, great on aluminum, and good on a solid steel vice (see pic)....1 shot punch indentation is not large but good enough to start a small drill bit.HINT: Best to hold with fingers tight on shank all the while pressing down with palm.Decent case...but 2 tools should have come with individual cases.

I have got these for a project I haven't started yet. They look and feel good in the hand, but I haven't taken them for a test drive yet. I can't quite figure out what makes them "adjustable." Will pdate review after putting them through their paces.

This pair of center punches are weighty and feel like quality tools. There's nothing about them that feels or looks cheap. They even come in a sturdy case with a secure Velcro closure.Excellent buy!

The media could not be loaded.  The instructions were non-existent (maybe missing from my package?), but the impact is easily adjusted by turning the rear portion of the handle. It doesn't get much easier than that. I tried it out on some scrap wood and I had laying around and it easily punched a nice indent for drilling.

Very solidly made, I can't imagine what would ever harm these. Maybe rain and time would be the only things, other than that, they will take any abuse you could hand them.It actually takes a little bit of force to activate these. It leaves a nice little indent ready for using a small drill bit on. Just what a center punch is supposed to do. It is adjustable by turning the end of the punch, it is threaded to allow for different tensions.Comes with a nice pouch to keep them both in, but like someone else said, perhaps an individual pouch for each one would be better, that way to could keep one at home and one at work.I remember of reading a long time ago you should keep one of these in your car, in case you went off the road and into a body of water. Your window up/down switch wont work, and water pressure will not allow you to open your door. You can use this to break your car window made of safety glass.

I really like this center-punch. The picture above is a tin can that contained tomatoes so you can see it packs a punch (sorry). The tool feels solidly constructed and can be adjusted for lighter spring load. I use these punches for dimpling sheet metal, steel and aluminum that I want to drill holes in, it stops the drill bit from skipping around when you’re starting a hole. It’s handy to have two because you’re always setting down a tool and then trying to find it on a cluttered work bench. Until I used these new center-punches I hadn’t realized hows weak and worn out the spring had gotten on my old one. A good price, good quality, I would definitely buy again.

I tried out the spring adjustment function on a mild steel plate and wood using a light 4 oz hammer (keep from applying too much force). The spring function allow for a good, steady punch without jumping out of position and the tip did not damage even after hitting multiple times into a mild steel plate. The punch in the wood was a very light force creating a deep-set point and steel took a little more force but created a deep enough set to keep a drill bit from walking.

I ordered this automatic center punch to use on marking spots to drill. There is no instruction in the box but for starter I tried it on a wood block. It does punch a drill point after pushing it in. I haven't tried it on a hard surface, but for sure I will find out. I mostly use my drill on wood and concrete, so this tool will greatly help in my projects. How long the tip stays sharp will be a great concern. We will see how it goes. For now, I am very happy with this tool.
