Mismatched set. Season 2 has double sided discs that would not play.
In this set, season 1 and 2 are manufactured by Universal, season 3, 4 & 5 by Shout Factory. Season 2 has double sided discs that have issues. The first disc, side A had no video or audio, but the timer on my player was running. I didn't waste my time trying any others, as I wanted all of the episodes I paid for. Read other reviews for Season 2 with the dual sided discs. Others complained of "blank discs" or discs that skip badly, even though they are brand new. The Shout Factory seasons are superior to the Universal ones, and are manufactured better, as they are single sided discs. Do yourself a favor, and buy the Complete Series, that will also include Season 6, manufactured by Shout Factory. This is an incomplete, mismatched set, that may not play properly on your DVD player.

it's good for the psyche
I grew up watching Leave It to Beaver. Watching it again is not just nostalgic, it's good for the psyche. Leave It to Beaver is one of those series that was not just entertaining and fun (most boys could relate the many issues that Beaver and Wally encountered and had to work through), but it was wholesome. Every episode reinforces that ethics and morality are key characteristics in life. Leave It to Beaver reminds us that we can laugh at things that are wholesome, that we don't need to tear down or ridicule others for entertainment, and there doesn't need to be violence to keep our attention. With the incredible intensity and complexity of television shows today, it's amazing to see my very young grand daughter enjoy watching Leave It to Beaver (along with many other shows of that generation). Take a step back in time, when life seemed simpler, but was still full of the same core ethical and moral issues that face us today, and enjoy a show that puts a smile on your face and makes you realize that focusing on family, friends, treating others well, and doing the right thing might be a key to fixing the problems of today. The quality of DVD's was great - even considering the technology that was used to initially film the series.

Grew up watching the show and always loved how they showed the kids point of view
Just received my complete series of Leave It To Beaver. They were wise to change the actors playing Ward and Wally from the ones that were in the pilot. Grew up watching the show and always loved how they showed the kids point of view. In grade school back in the early sixties I was always called Beaver. If you see my picture you will see why.

Gee Wally, This Is One Swell Boxset
I'm not just giving you the business Sam, this is one swell boxset that includes all 234 uncut and remastered black & white episodes of this classic show plus much more.Leave It To Beaver aired for 6 seasons from 1957 to 1963. Each of the 6 seasons have 39 episodes that are spread out over 6 single-sided dual-layered dvds which are housed in their own separate cases. All 6 dvd cases plus a bonus dvd are housed inside a vary sturdy cardboard slipcase.Video: Shout Factory went all-out and did an incredible job remastering Leave It To Beaver. The show is presented in its original full frame 1:33 ratio and looks fantastic. The show is in black & white and looks clean, sharp, and bright.Audio: The only audio track on this set is English 2.0 mono. It is clear sounding and I have no complaintsSubtitles: There are no subtitles on the set but it is close-captioned in English only. I'm not sure why Shout didn't include subtitles in this day and age where hdmi is so frequently used. Hdmi does not support close-captioning. If you connect your dvd player to your tv via hdmi, you cannot access the close-captioning and will need to connect your player tv via composite cables and watch the show with slightly degraded picture quality. This is not an issue to me but I figured it may be a big issue for others and is worth mentioning.Extras: Each season includes an episode of Shokus Internet Radio's Stu's Show. This is an audio only feature that plays over several episodes. The shows are fun to listen to and include various interviews Jerry Mathers, Tony Dow, Ken Osmond, and Frank Bank. There is also a bonus dvd exclusive to this set that has a bunch of goodies on it. It includes:01. The LITB unaired pilot, 'It's a Small World'.02. Barbara Billingsley, Jerry Mathers, and Tony Dow take a trip down memory lane and talk about the show in the 74 minute 'Forever the Beaver, The Cleavers Look Back'.03. The 30 minute 'Ken Osmond and Frank Bank Remember'.04. 'The Drum Major of the Toy Parade' is a short interview with composer Dave Kahn.05. There is a short US Treasury film where the Beaver learns about saving bonds.06. Last but not least, there is a fold-out, full-color reproduction of the Leave It to Beaver Money Maker board game tucked in with the bonus dvd. Make sure you have one in your set. I guess some sets have been shipping out without it.

Great Series, but collection needs a series insert.
I just got my series yesterday, and so far the first 6 episodes are in good shape. I was so excited to get this box set, because it’s one of my favorite series. I am disappointed that my box set didn’t come with an insert that tells you about the series, the characters, and overall info with photos, like most boxsets do. I waited two months to buy it.Some of the reviews have me worried about the quality of the videos, so I’ll binge watch them before the 30 days is up in case I need a replacement. But so far all is good, except the lack of the insert. That’s a disappointment. Maybe the Seller will send me one? It’s not a collection without it. That’s the reason for the four stars.

Ward, June, Wally and the Beaver
Excellent box set. I saw a set sell for half the price but it was lacking the sixth season. I don’t know if that’s a season that you cannot but cheaply or not. I bought the whole box set. It’s the old classic episodes in all their glory. Great box set.

A Slice of Americana
This is absolutely wonderful! I know some people say it's not an accurate portrayal of 1950-60's American family life, since June Cleaver cleaned house in heels and pearls, but that's all explained in the last disc where they put all the 'goodies'. And my family always sat down to dinner together and talked about our day, something that's sadly missing in family life nowadays. Anyway, this complete series is a classic that I highly recommend.
