The best phone in this price range.
I was a bit skeptical about the mobile network since I'm a T-mobile user in the US, but everything went smoothly once I put the sim card in. It gets 4G (LTE) everywhere I've been to and the call quality is excellent as well. I am also impressed by the long-lasting battery and the quick speed of charging with the regular adapter provided. Everything runs fast and I have zero complaints about lag of any kind. Speakers are even louder than I thought they'd be and the sound is very good. The thing that completely amazed me was the quality of the camera, it just takes the pictures right and, if the portrait mode is used, the background blurs correctly 95% of the time and the edges algorithm is outstanding! I came from a budget phone and this is definitely a high-end product experience. The only cons I could find is that the front facing camera has no LED flash and isn't wide-angle; and that the video recording hasn't EIS (electronic image stabilization) or OIS (optical image stabilization) so it can get shaky. All-in-all I truly believe this is a no-brainer for the price. Go for it and try it yourself. I promise you: you won't be disappointed.P.s. I attached some pics taken with the rear camera of the phone. The first three are in portrait mode and the others aren't nor do any of them have HDR on.UPDATE (12/31/2017): The Android O update came in yesterday and it improves several aspects of the phone such as the battery life, smoother animations and (best of all) now it has support for Quick Charge. I guess we'll have to wait for an official quick charger from Xiaomi to come out, but I suppose it could work with any from other brands.UPDATE (11/12/2018): It's been more than a year now and I still use it as my primary mobile device. It has aged incredibly well, I've dropped it several times by accident and so it has a few scratches in the back but the screen is just as new! The device performance keeps being awesome and the camera too. I have taken many, many pictures with it and the quality still surprises me.Sadly, the support for Quick Charge was only a bug found on the charging screen that said "fast charging". It was quickly fixed with the first security update for Android O.Nevertheless, it puts a smile on my face knowing that a bit more than a year ago and out of all the possibilities, I purchased what would become my daily companion and, looking back now, I made the right choice.

Setup with SIM card installed. I love this phone.
I use this phone on AT&T network in NC. It is great looking and full featured. It feels durable and the fingerprint reader works great. I read some complaints about the type C USB connection but then found out that my wife's new Samsung uses type C as well. Everything's a Dollar store has type C cables for $1.It comes with a charger and cable as well as one screen protector. The battery lasts me all day with normal use of texting, surfing, a couple of phone calls, some gps. I don't watch movies, play games, or take selfies so I can't date those things very accurately. The camera works well for me and I can watch youtube...good enough.I replaced an LG G4 with this phone and I am super pleased. No more $600 phones on a payment plan for me.DO NOT SET UP WITHOUT THE SIM CARD INSTALLED.When I first had AT&T install a new SIM card the phone would only get 3G service. AT&T unprovisioned the SIM and I did factory reset and setup again with the unprovisioned SIM. Back to AT&T and it worked perfectly with a new SIM on 4G LTE. So, don't try to setup the phone before and then swap SIM cards. Put the card in first.

Excellent
Build quality is great, runs smoothly and never slows down. The battery life is also good as it last thougout the day with average usage. The speaker is really loud and stock Android is a joy to use on this phone. The camera however is good enough but not so great under low lighting conditions.I only get 3G where I am but that is not a fault of the phone but an oversight on my part as it does not support the 4G bands available in my country. With that said I would recommend this phone.

greatest, and overly expensive flagship phone
If you don't care about having the latest, greatest, and overly expensive flagship phone, this is for you. Bought this Xiaomi a few months ago after my Samsung Galaxy S5 was really beginning to show its age. I could not believe the quality of this phone for the price. 64gb of internal storage is nice as is actually having a microSD slot for expandibility. 4gb of RAM is enough for most non-power users and it's been fine for me. The screen is 1080p and still pretty good. The clean AndoidOne OS is awesome and I love that you get updates from Google directly. Rear camera is pretty good with its dual camera setup but it's not the best compared to say an S9 or Pixel 2. But for $200, this phone can't be beat.

Solid phone for the price.
I really like this phone but my employer's IT department doesn't agree. It's solidly constructed & looks and feels great. The Android One OS is clean and bloatware free. It works perfectly on AT&T. Unfortunately, my employer says I can't use ANY Xiaomi phone to sync with my corp account. Because I refuse to carry two phones (one corp and one personal), it's has to be returned. Bummer. The whole point of the Android One OS is a clean version of Android as Google intended. Xiaomi says Its Smartphones do not secretly upload photos or text messages ... but then again, "The Donald" says there's no collusion so who can you believe these days? FWIW, I have read about this phone having issues with the Oreo 8.1 OS upgrade so do your homework before upgrading. I can't find anything online about security problems. Here's one reviewer's opinion: "Xiaomi phones are often pretty difficult to purchase, but this phone, as part of the Android One program, is getting a roll-out to more than 40 countries, along with a bit of a push from Google itself." The MI A1 is nearly identical to an iPhone 6 with it's metal back and chamfered glass screen.Bottom line is that if not for my employer's Draconian security policies, it would be a keeper.
