This is a great microscope camera. It has great resolution and can really zoom in on small details. I focused the microscope on a dollar bill in my wallet and it is easy to see the details in the ink and the red threads in the paper. The microscope works great pressed up against the subject but can also be held farther away to get a better field of view. The focusing wheel adjusts the focus but the focal distance is very difficult to maintain hand held. I found a small clamp used to hold items for soldering works well for this. The microscope shows in Windows as a web cam so there are many programs to use to capture images. I've really enjoyed this microscope for a variety of close-up images.

I bought this to check/set SRA (VTA) on my phono cartridge, and to inspect the stylus for wear if possible. Getting used to it took me some time. I finally realized that I need to set the magnification on the thumbwheel first, then move the scope in and out for focus. I attached the scope to a locking articulating arm I already own with a zip tie. The arm uses a single knob to set drag of the joints and lock it, and is easy to position, but still requires some careful fiddling to get the scope in position. I found the lighting was very useful, although I did remove the light "concentrator" to allow me to get safely closer to the phono cartridge. Attached you can see an image of the phono stylus I captured at the higher magnification end of the scopes range, an image of the cantilever assy at a lower magnification, and a pic of the scope attached to my arm assy. Dept of field is minimal which isnt surprising at the upper end of the units magnification setting like I used. The zoom control is pretty tight so it really isnt practical to adjust it once you are in "position" to view. The scope will move all around relative to what you are viewing trying to move the zoom, so I started pulling the scope away from what I was viewing, changing the zoom, then sliding it back in place to focus. I found the focal distance at the X1000 end of the zoom to be less than an inch from the peep-hole of the moving outer lens assembly and the distance at the X20 end is around 4". The app for Android works easily and the scope connected and stayed connected via wi-fi without a hitch. Its nice that the app has a snapshot button so I didnt have to disturb the camera to take a pic. I connected it to my desktop using the USB cable and found the Windows 10 "Camera" works well with it. All in all, one of the best $25 I have spent recently. As far as evaluating stylus wear...I dont seem to be able to get close enough to the stylus to see the condition of the business end without losing focus. The 4th pic is an example and maybe the best shot I was able to get, using end/side lighting and viewing the stylus from the bottom to try to see details of the contact lines. I tried side/side lighting in the 5th pic, but I cant tell anything from that. I think I need to be able to get closer while in focus or have more resolution (this was shot using the 1920*1080 camera setting from the Android app) to see the very tip, where any wear or damage would occur.
