One stupid party. One stupid boy. One stupid kiss. And my life was virtually over. Tessa McCaide has a unique talent for getting into trouble. Then again, it isn’t easy for a girl with visions to ignore what she sees. Luckily Tessa and her family are leaving California and moving halfway across the country, giving her the perfect opportunity to leave her reputation as “Freaky Tessa” behind. But Tessa doesn’t realize that kissing the wrong guy in her new Texas town could land her in far more trouble than she ever imagined. Like being forced to attend St. Ailbe’s Academy, a secret boarding school for werewolves. Even if the wrong guy did accidentally turn her into one of “them” and doom her to attending the weirdest high school ever, Tessa can’t help her growing attraction to the mysterious Dastien Laurent. When vampires attack St. Alibe’s and her visions pinpoint an enemy in their midst, Tessa realizes that boy drama and her newfound canine tendencies might just be the least of her problems. Review: Actually an enjoyable read! Not too heavy and a solid read :) - This was so easy to pick and read. I devoured it pretty quick and actually enjoyed it! Yes, a lot of it could be said as the usual - girl with a quirk and an outsider meets other boy blah, blah....but in honesty; Ms Erin doesn't make it feel like that. So! Tessa is our "heroine" for the series. A girl with the gift of "sight", so powerful she has to wear gloves and be careful of what and who she touches. Moving to a new area, she hesitantly goes to a party with some of the guys and gals from her new school. She feels like she finally fits in...! Taking a breather, and going out for air...changes everything. Drawn to a guy that she had somehow seen in a vision, a quick make out and a nibble session ends with her being quickly dropped from the kids from school, a night in A&E where the staff are petrified of her, and where her senses suddenly seem...overwhelming. She has NO clue what is going on. Turns out the guy she made out with...Dastien, is a werewolf. The town she moved to is almost a mecca for supernaturals as well as humans but they keep a good distance from each other. Now she was one of them..... The main storyline of this book is to introduce us to Tessa, to show us her new life just as she enters it, and to her new way of living. Dastien, it turns out is her Soul Mate. Tessa doesn't adjust to being a werewolf well - not one bit. She fights it the entire time. And still...she finds it hard to fit in. She was bitten. Everyone else was a born were, so once again, shes the odd one. A great start to the series, and an interesting take on weres. It makes a refreshing change to have a paranormal romance, where its not too heavy, its not all about big sex scenes and the story still carries through. On to the next.....!!! Review: Well Written NA Paranormal Romance - This is the first book in a continuing series. The book ends at a natural break in the narrative but the story definitely continues in future books. Tessa has lived in LA her whole life. That life hasn’t been great because she picks up visions when she touches people and things. She constantly wears gloves but people still touch her by accident. It leaves her isolated and lonely. Her only friend is her brother Axel who is just about to leave for college, whilst she and her mother and father leave to live about an hour away from his new home, in Texas. Moving to their new home, Tessa has hopes that she can finally be seen as ‘normal’, but fate isn’t going to be that kind to her. When Tessa meets Dastian she is powerfully drawn to him and he is to her. When they kiss, he changes her life forever. This was a pretty straight forward book, with no great surprises in the plot. However, it was well written and the narrative was smooth and absorbing. It’s entertaining and enjoyable and the characters are interesting. I really liked Tessa. She was pretty down to earth for someone exposed to other people’s memories whenever she touched anyone/anything. I liked that she was close to her family. They were all loving and kind and there was an ease to the way they communicated with humour and understanding. It was nice for once to see a supportive family around the MFC, as it’s often very different in these types of stories. I wasn’t so enamoured of Bastian. He basically messed up big time and kept compounding his mistakes. He obviously felt very strongly about Tessa but he just couldn’t seem to get it right. Because of those errors in judgement he didn’t come across as particularly reliable. It made it hard to appreciate the character. I did like the supporting characters. They were all well developed and had interesting backstories. They felt very well thought out and provide interesting dynamics to the story. The world building was a little shallow. There were hints about the way the world was set up but this story was very focused on a very small section of the supernatural society. However, as this is a longer series I believe that more world-building will occur over future books. The characters and the story are light and easy to read about and even the dangers are too scary. This is a good escapist read.

This book was amazing, it had everything
This book was amazing, it had everything, a diverse world of supernatural characters, strong leading characters and a story that was so easy and enjoyable to read I resented having to stop reading it for anything, and finished the first book in less than a day then immediately downloaded the second book. I just can't wait for the third book to come out in three weeks! Do yourself a favour and buy this book now, especially if you're a fantasy lover and enjoyed such books as Richelle meads vampire academy, twilight and harry potter - you will be addicted to these books like me!

the series is an amazing read!
I've read 5 books from the series and can't wait to read book 6 'n' 7, it has now officially become one of my favourites book series alongside the pegasus series by Kate o'hearn. Aileen Erin is an amazing author from what I have read and I'm looking forward to reading all her other books she has written As soon as I started book 1 I couldn't put it down, the story grips you in making you want to know what happens next in Tessa new life, totally worth every minute spent reading!

A very good start of a series - and worth reading.
Becoming Alpha has something of the vampire academy series as well as normal world young adult series. It has a heroine who is a teenager without being portrayed as a complete idiot by the author, has a strong male character who does not need to show his strength to the expense of the female. I liked that bit very much. I love the word being created, the potential of the intricacy and political interactions. However, there are still issues that let down the series. The beginning is rough and needs to be endured to get to the real, and very gripping story. The characters lack depth in places - especially in regards to a more three dimensional portrayal of physical sensations such as touch, sound and scent. The book lives from the developing relationship between the two main characters, it is their interaction which gives it the emotional draw. The external conflict is in places very predictable and even common place - and therefore almost steals precious word space from the relationship, limiting the portrayal of its development. Nevertheless a very credible, and good, young adult book with huge potential of development.

Sweet YA PNR
3.5 stars Alpha Girl is quite a typical YA PNR werewolves/witches/vampires book - think the sort of thing that got huge after Twilight. It follows Tessa, a teenager girl with telepathic abilities who finds herself turned into a werewolf after moving in an attempt to start a new life. There are elements of insta-love (though magically explained and so bearable for me) and Tessa is your average "outsider who has never found somewhere that she fit in but suddenly does once she becomes a part of the magical world" main character. However despite the many cliché's of the book it is rather enjoyable and I think that is because Tessa and Dastien are very well written lead characters who have a strong connection that leaps of the page. Other than that I can't really define WHY I like this book as it does have quite a few little issues and didn't fulfil the potential of what it could have been. Becoming Alpha is just one of those books that has that magic something special that made me love it despite the issues and clichéd characters and storyline. Once the action properly kicks in the book gets a lot more powerful and the characters got a lot stronger. I would have liked for the action to start earlier as the story was starting to drag but it really was worth the wait. This isn't a particularly unique read but it is quite sweet and is a nice little YA PNR that you will probably enjoy if you are after that sort of a read.

loved it
Can’t wait to read more from the series, it was really interesting to see her take on the whole wolfgen thing, I personally liked how she made the vamps the way she did, it made the book more unique and it’s hard to find a unique wolf book now a days. Definitely give this a go, you won’t be disappointed (

Couldn't Put it Down - A Thrilling Story
This book grabbed me in the first pages with small hints to what was to come. I was constantly seeing the breadcrumbs and I was reading the pages every moment I got. Halfway through, I was excited to see that I had so much story left, because a lot was happening and I loved every minute. During the last chapters, I wanted to just skip ahead, but at the same time, I didn't want to miss a word. When I finished, I was stunned. This was a good book. By the way, I downloaded Book 2 halfway through this one so that I could continue with the story. The characters are amazing; even characters who only appear briefly in the story have a strong presence and are hard to forget. There are a lot of hints to side plots that I can't wait to see developed in future stories. I'm being vague, because this one shouldn't be ruined with a spoiler alert - I want everyone to enjoy every word like I did. I haven't enjoyed a book this much in a long time. I hate to do it, but I'm going to compare it to the Twilight series in that I had the same excitement; it's a fun story, but it's not hacky or over done. Aileen Erin has a great mix of the supernatural, her own spin on vampires (which rocks), and just a hint at romance without making you gag - she's an amazing story teller. The ending was perfect; it wrapped things up while leaving a lot of open ends to let readers know that she's not finished. Will the next book be about the main character's transition, her roommate's transition or romance, the witches, more vampires, will the nemesis be friend or foe? Now I'm off to read Book 2 to find out. Kimberly, Keep the Tail Wagging

Exciting new read!
Loved the story of this book and the down to earth heroine, this book had a lot of action and fun, the world and school that she creates is very exciting and intriguing, can't wait to see where the series continues.

Fun & romantic werewolf story with young adults
I really enjoyed reading this book, it's definitely a page turner. I think Twilight fans will be pleased with it, however it's much funnier than Twilight. I also liked the fact that Tessa is mixed race, simply because you hardly ever hear about mixed race novel characters. If you analyze it on a deeper level, there are some things, which are a bit concerning from a feminist/egalitarian perspective: - The relationship between Tessa and Dastien starts out with violence where he loses control over himself. - The concept of individuals not being complete until they find their soulmate. Pleeeeease! - Tessa is very slim (apparently you can't find love if you are chubby). I'm still waiting for a supernatural YA story with a plus sized girl who enjoys eating. But then your lover can't carry you around when you are ill or when he wants to ravish you, so I guess this is the reasoning behind all of these tiny heroines. - Tessas attraction to Dastien is primarily based on looks and alpha wolf status (his muscles and strength). - The male hero displays typical bad boy behaviour and I am not sure if this is a good message for young girls. The nice guy is being tossed away as always. However, in real life, nice guys make much better husbands than the bad boys.

The one that started it all
I have just spent the last 4 days reading all 8 books of this series. This book was what started the need to read them all so quickly! The story just drew me in and now i am left feeling like i need more. Definitely worth the read if you enjoy the supernatural. Cannot wait for May 2020 for the next one!

Très très bonne suprise!
Cette série est absolument superbe, certes pour jeune adulte voir même ados mais honnêtement on ne s'y ennuie pas. Les personnages sont cohérents et même ceux de second plan tiennent la route. J'adore cette série.
