The Single Most Hope Inducing Book I've Ever Read
If you haven’t yet, buy this book today. It’s as topical and timely now, 2 years after its publication, as it was in 2016. Don’t hesitate.I only just finished reading it – posting 3 July 2018 – and can’t state strongly enough how much I regret that I did not read this book the day it came out. It would have given me strength and vision through what became of very rough year. Why rough? I’d never been involved in politics at all, and when I came out for candidate Trump, and then got deeply involved, it felt like getting hit by a crossbow’s bolt. If I’d had this book back then, it would have helped me through. How would this book have helped me? For the same reason you should read this book now if you haven’t, yet. We all need hope. At the age of 18, upon graduating from high school, Charlie Kirk set off upon an adventure; much like Ulysses, having no idea whether or not his mission would succeed. He decided to reclaim education on the basis of America’s founding principles, and to do it from the ground up. That was in 2012. By the time of the writing, his vision had already succeeded beyond what anyone – other than Charlie – could have imagined. That’s an amazing story of hope right there. But the core of the book is NOT in Charlie’s story, rather, it is America’s story. Again and again we’re taking backward in time to see the roots that lie under our great nation and we are shown the principles that made us great in the first place, how these principles have been eroded almost to the point of being lost, and how we must take action now in order to reclaim our path to the future our founder’s won for us. Charlie and Brent might have subtitled this book: Back to the Future of our First Principles (which is essentially the title of chapter 2)! I’m seeing a red, white and blue DeLorean in the movie right now. While the book lays this process out in various modes of writing and analysis throughout, most readers will agree with me that the vision of Julio’s life in the Back to the Future chapter is the most powerful part of the book. Julio’s story is beautifully written. It is warmly and intimately conveyed, fills our hearts with a totally different kind of hope than we’ve felt in years or decades, or maybe ever. Our hero is born 25 years forward, and we walk with him through a rich and fulfilling life of First Principles based freedom for roughly 75 years, landing in the second decade of the 22nd century. When you finish reading Julio’s story, you will want to go out and make it possible, as you cheer Julio for the life he’s lived in honor and as was our founders’ dream for all of us.From what I’ve learned so far, I believe this book requires a hashtag campaign now, in hopes of reaching the broadest possible base of readers before 2018’s midterms. My own offering is: #RestoringAmericasPrinciples. I for one will be tweeting this book’s page here at Amazon.com, and that hashtag, in hopes of getting the word out. Do join me! And, if you have a different hashtag to offer, by all means do!We need to free America again, on the basis of First Principles. Charlie and Brent’s book is an extraordinary read toward that great good. To read this book is, and without question, a political act all unto itself, on the road to righting our ship of state.

Documents the problem with todays colleges
Kirk begins chapter 8 relating an account of visiting an "ivy league" college and sitting in on a macroeconomics class where the professor proclaimed in his rant for communism that capitalism was inherently evil because its distribution of wealth was unfair. Kirk spoke up about his concerns and after class several students thanked him for speaking up (they feared doing so would hurt their grade so wisely kept quiet). My thought was part-time professors barely make minimum wage and presidents, even at small colleges, make 7 figure incomes, becoming multimillionaires after only a few years. The dean of diversity at Michigan State University reportedly makes 400,000 dollars a year. My guess the professor Kirk is referring to makes several hundred thousand a year, and he complains about the few successful business persons who start their own business make half as much! He quotes a study that found 60 percent of professors accept the liberal or far-left label (p. 153). In short, Kirk has concluded that a major problem in American society today is out colleges that indoctrinate rather than educate (p. 158). And he has spoken at many colleges and with many professors, so speaks from his first-hand knowledge. He also references numerous empirical studies to support his conclusion, which I doubt any informed person would deny. kirk heads Turning Point which has branches in over 1,000 high schools and colleges. These problems also exist at putative "Christian Colleges." Kirk also includes several case histories documenting discrimination against conservatives at colleges which speak volumes. The anti-Isreal stance of many universities surprised me and did the unwillingness to have rational discussions on topics that are currently popular but lack solid empirical support such as Darwinism.

It's about time...
"Time for a Turning Point" is an apt title. American Universities are in serious trouble with their prohibition of free thinking on the part of students. The backlash is sure to be terrible. Then along comes Charlie Kirk with a solution -- and a brilliant one, at that. With the immediacy of the issues discussed and the clarity brought to their resolution, this book should have a great impact throwing off the suppression of our nation's youth. In my experience, the very best books are those which, when you read them, you say to yourself, "Of course! Why didn't anyone else think of that?" This is one of those books, and I love it.

Great story
I was a member of a TPUSA chapter when I was in college. This book gave me a good insight on how the organization was started and what it truly stands for. This is definitely a must read for current members!
