Russell Hobbs 15154 Stand Mixer Reliable and Robust with Classic Design

This was a gift for my aunt - it's really stylish, and although she ahs yet to use it, I'm sure it'll serve the purpose well as it's a trusted brand.Delivery was timely and the item was well packaged.

i brought this mixer to help me make cakes, it has sucker pads on bottom which is good ,the mixer bowl is plenty big enought it has a dough fork i have make pastry with it. it is saving me time so i can make more. I would recommend it to my friends.Well worth the money .

I thought it was good because of the name - but beware

We got this quite recently having decided to do more of our own baking and avoid too much processed food. As a result we haven't had chance to use it to its full potential, and we'll add to this review as we've tested out more of the functionality.So far this has done everything we have asked of it - making cake mix and bread dough. We've been happy with the results that the mixer produces and can't really fault it. The mixer isn't super quiet, but then its no noisier than other mixers that we've used in the past.The colours used make this more acceptable to leave out in the kitchen all the time, which is handy as, whilst its not too heavy, we'd rather not be lifting it in and out of a cupboard every time its needed.Overall does what you'd expect it to do, and happy with the results.

This is a really good example of a good, robust, old-school food mixer with no fancy features - it just does what it says on the tin - which is perfect for most cooks. It is made of silver plastic and has a stainless steel bowl, so it looks very stylish and can be kept on display all the time.It comes with 3 accessories - a beater, a whisk and a dough-hook and a massive 5L mixing bowl. There are 8 speed settings and a whisking setting - none of which are too noisy. The mixer has suction-cups on the base to hold it still when in use, which is very convenient and prevents a lot of noise.The downsides? Firstly, there's no expandability - in other food mixers there are sockets to attach other devices that can be purchased separately - such as vegetable slicers and liquidisers, but there are no such options here. Secondly, the dough-hook doesn't quite reach the bottom of the mixing bowl, so it doesn't kneed dough particularly efficiently. Other than that, it's a great mixer - looks fantastic and does the job very well.

This is a straightforward, no frills mixer, which I really appreciate, having had nothing for years apart from a fork or wooden spoon!Its virtue is in its simple operation, few controls to fox or confuse the non-technie like myself. It beat eggs for a souffle in about 5 minutes - fantastic. I've also used it for cake mixture, again its fast and effecient. As someone who frequently makes bread (we live a long way out in the country) its a godsend too, it saved me loads of time. I like the fact that there's only one beater, mixer or dough hook to clean, the mixers I've had in the past mostly use two, so twice as much cleaning time. It says in the instructions not to put the stainless steel bowl into the dishwasher, but I didn't see why not, and have done to no adverse effect (so far!). Likewise the blades say not to put in dishwasher, and haven't tried these as they look slightly less robust and not stainless steel. Its a good size bowl and will come in handy soon for the Christmas cake. The only down side is maybe the beaters don't get completely to side of the bowls if only using on a small quantity of mixture, but still works pretty well. If you just want a simple but effective machine to mix something quickly when you need it, this is really it.

This good-looking stand mixer seemed to be a well-built, elegant and simple version of the long-established heavy-duty kitchen mixer. It was lower-priced than the well-known Kenwood Chef and did the same basic jobs, although it cannot take any add-on devices or gadgets. It beats cake-type mixtures thoroughly, taking more time but supposedly doing a better job than a food processor; it has a big balloon whisk for batters and light mixes; and it has a dough-hook for bread and yeast-based mixes. A dough-hook kneads much better and faster than a bread-machine paddle. All this is stuff for serious cooking. The parts are easy to wash-up.I started with a sponge cake. Why would the mixer not cream butter and sugar? The beater was whizzing around, and the excellent suction feet were keeping the machine still on my work surface. The problem was obvious. As other reviewers have noticed, the mixing tools do not reach to the bottom of the stainless steel bowl, and several millimeters depth of mixture are missed. After much scrabbling about with a spatula, I got the cake mixed, then reached for the kitchen phone.The Russell Hobbs/Salton helpline operator said she would ask an expert, and told me a couple of minutes later that there was no way to adjust the mixing tool height so that all the mixture was beaten. I am disappointed that a perfectly good design and marketing idea has been spoiled by what is either an erroneous specification or a manufacturing error.
