Misleading pic. Poor quality code setting wheel
Didn't see the small print or read the review before buying. Saw the picture of the box and thought it is the Hasbro version but it is actually Crystal.Realised only on receipt. Didn't really mind what brand it is as long as it works so open it to let the kids play ... but the code setting wheel is really poor. Can't set the colour properly as the wheel is really a free turning one with no clicking mechanism to secure your colour selection in place. We ended up writing down the colour on a piece of paper. Otherwise the rest is pretty much of ok built and we can still play and have fun on it.Just a bit of a pain with the code setting.Wish I had returned it rather than open the box!

Pleased
It's good. The new swivel function makes it easier for playing in a two. The scoring system - once you get used to it - is as effective as the old one.One thing I definitely miss is THE GRILL which reveals the correct answer. Classic part of the old game. However, once you get used to the new scoring system that can be just as fun.8 colors.

Great family Game
Crystal Games Classic Mastermind Memory Board Game would have liked this for christmas as our house hold is games mad at this time of year but this is still getting used anyway. It states age group 8 plus and you can have up to 5 players and i would say this is a good family game to keep everyone interested. The whole point of the game is to guess the code that one player has set at the start of the game. while the other players then take turns to try and get the same pattern as the first player It may seem complicated but it is great fun and has everyone taking part. Once they have some idea of colours and how the pegs are placed they use there knowledge and skill to try and crack the code. This is getting a lot of use at the moment due to the cold winter days instead of being glued to the TV we like to play games and this is one we seem to fall back on as its good that you can have up to 5 players as opposed to the two player game they used to do and gets us all involved and we have such great fun with a few drinks beats boring TV as it also gets the family talking.Price is also very reasonable as i have seen this at a higher price at a game store. Received this at discount in exchange for an honest review.

Mastermind in the 21st century
I got this product at discount for a test and review.I used to have this game when I was a young lad and thought it would be good to play with my 2 boys. It arrived in good time and in perfect order being well packaged. Upon opening and getting ready to play I noticed how it had been modernised. The combination was seperate from the board which was good as before it had a little cover that if not in place properly you could se the combination so having a seperate dialled code combination erradicates the chance of cheating. It also had a few more colours than the original which makes it a bit more of a challenge. The board came with a foot which it rotated round so you could slide the board round to the next player (though I still havent worked out how it can play upto 5 Players) which although trying to be clever isnt really necessary in my opinion. The coloured pegs are all there and are nice and bright, I found them a little had to pick up but I suffer carpal tunnel and haveproblems with my fingers yet my boys had no problem picking them up and using them. There are red and white sliders which slide out from either side to indicate how many are right and how many are wrong replacing the old usage of black and white pegs that were really fiddly to use, some of the sliders didnt seem to slide well and hung loosely when pulled out so that might be a problem after great use. We played a few games and not essentially sticking to the rules as one is nearly 5. But we had fun and the boys had a good time though by the 3rd game were getting bored of it lke kids do lol. It is all made of plastic and of a quality that reflects the price fairly. If looked after the game would last a good while, though you do have to watch them pegs. All in all a good little game thats ideal for a rainy day or be useful on journeys etc. I would have given a 5 star but felt the small issues with the plastic sliders and pegs being awkward to pick up for me should be something that had been sorted before production but it is just a game and for its value I still really like it.

A game that brings back the family fun
A game I remember playing when I was younger so I thought I would try and rekindle my youth; so my wife and I sat down and started to play it and before we knew it, it was time for bed. For us it was very addictive and fun to play and when we went babysitting we took it for the eight year old we were looking after and after he got used to it he was whopping use; no table that night. We all had great fun and highly recommend as a family game as it can entertain eight players; we only played with two players

Still love this game
I loved Mastermind as a child, this is an updated version with larger pegs and sliders on each side to score the game. The aim of the game is to break the code of coloured pegs that the other player has set. The player try’s to guess the code by placing pegs into the board. The player who set the code then markers any correct colours. This is done by using the sliders to inform the player of correct colour and place or if it is a correct colour but wrong place. With this information the player uses a combination of logic and guesswork to try and crack the code.I still love this game and would recommend it.I received this product at discount price in return for an honest review.
