Caratest Professional Silver Testing Kit - Tester Solution and Full Colour Instruction Booklet

Can't fault the product in any way, as it's quick, easy and consistent.If I were buying metal testing products again I would look for Caratest.I say this even though I am none the wiser about what my metal 'thing' might be, that I unearthed in a field. The silver testing kit quite clearly tells me it is not silver. So what the heck is it! So far it's not tested as any metal but clearly is, so must be a crashed alien spacecraft. Will they come after me?Anyway! Caratest Professional Silver Testing Kit is exactly what it purports to be. It's one small bottle of testing acid (which will last a long, long time as a minuscule amount should be used per application) and a user guide. Caratest do make more comprehensive metal testing kits so if after something that tests metals other than silver/not silver, check the rest of their range; they are all great.This is an idiot-proof kit really as long as you follow the instructions and keep the acid well away from children and pets, are careful not to apply too much or knock it over, and only use a tiny, tiny amount in an inconspicuous area on the underside of the item to be tested. If your item is silver then the acid's chemical reaction will result in the acid turning red. The colour guide does show other colours which will give you some steer on what else it could be, if not silver, but will not be definitive for other metals, so again consider their other kits alongside or instead.This is a very trustworthy manufacturer and product range so that's why I am stumped that I still have no clue what my item is made of! Hmm! The mystery deepens.Full marks to Caratest for an easy to use, simple and highly effective kit, promptly sent and well-packaged.

Really good and useful staff of course is damage a bit the silver but I don't know any better autenticy check.

Seems to do the job. Sadly all the treasures I have bought at car boot sales are not silver!
