For an immediate undertanding of how light is formed. This is a bit small for easy viewing by the novice and a larger version is out there somewhere and is a lot easier to use.

Went back. They seemed to have missed the places the functioning parts are supposed to go resulting in no discernible spectral image.

Small and handy, I use it,for checking spectral output of modern lighting systems. Particularly examining high blue emission.

I bought this spectroscope to assess the light quality of various light sources (LEDs, fluorescents, etc...) and it works great for this. The image is a touch dimmer than I'd like, but that's likely unavoidable in a unit this small. I otherwise find the spectrum shown through the eyepiece to be clear and sharp, and it works well.

Just what I expected. It does the job.
