Perspex not glass. Small. Not especially smooth surfaces. Good enough to bend light a little but not very professionally made.

As it is this is a great product for demonstrating the path of light through various optics. It was fun setting this up and then showing the kids some basic science about how light and lenses work. I've given it four stars because it would have been nicer to have another concave part rather than just the one. Also, although it was easily improvised a grating supplied with the set would have been useful. Still good stuff though.

Using either a beam of daylight or a laser pen or similar, you can see where it's going though these as one side has a frosted coating to it. The beam shows itself up as it passes through.To have to many shapes in this kit, and for less than seven quid, it's almost a no-brainer if you're looking for something like this. It works really well and is ideal to show what refraction and reflection is as light passes between media.Very happy with this.
