As someone with mild-moderate hearing loss, I have relied on expensive hearing aids for many years. They have been a crucial tool in my daily life, allowing me to interact with others effectively. I have always placed importance on having finely tuned hearing aids, as this makes all the difference in understanding conversations.Recently, I decided to try out these low-cost hearing enhancers and was pleasantly surprised with their performance. While they are not to be mistaken for traditional hearing aids, they do serve a purpose as sound amplifiers. However, they tend to amplify all sounds, which can be overwhelming in certain situations. On my first try, I was taken aback by the sound of air blowing from a mini-split near my desk, but I quickly adapted.Despite this, I still find these enhancers useful. They are low-cost, do more good than harm, and my brain has adjusted to the amplified sounds. If I had to choose between these enhancers and no assistance, I would choose these enhancers any day. They have made it easier for me to hear the sounds around me, including my wife speaking to me.The package comes with all the extras I could need: a portable charging case, various ear pieces for different ear canal sizes and occlusion preferences, and a cleaning brush. It is a complete kit for anyone looking to enhance their TV listening experience or conversation with loved ones. While these enhancers only have three volume levels, which I find limiting, they are straightforward to use. The sound is amplified effectively without distorting the audio. The dedicated controls are simple and easy to remember, and they provide a more comfortable fit compared to my in-ear bud version. I will use these enhancers in settings where the risk of damage or loss is acceptable and my more expensive hearing aids for everyday activities.Overall, I am pleasantly surprised by the performance of these enhancers. They may not replace prescription hearing aids, but for those on a tight budget looking for an alternative, these are a great option. They amplify sound effectively, providing a clear and defined audio experience without being overly amplified or accentuated. The instructions are clear, but I did miss the mention of removing the protective plastic pull tabs from the charging ports. Inserting the enhancers prior to powering on also eliminates the initial painful feedback. I have long hair and found that wearing my hair behind my ear eliminates any rustling sounds. I would recommend these enhancers for anyone looking to enhance their listening environment with a relatively low investment.

Lasted less than 1year
Bought these for my elderly father. Was pretty happy with them for awhile, but now one is not working at all. Have had them 11 months. No warranty is included and Amazon policy is to replace defective components within 90 days.

Good enhancement; good kit
With mild-moderate hearing loss, I've worn expensive (thousands of dollars) hearing aids for over a dozen years. They've been a lifesaver since I frequently interact with others. Hearing aids have an important purpose, and finely tuned ones can make understanding conversation possible for people like me. "Finely tuned" is important here. These more recent low cost "hearing enhancement aids" are not to be confused with hearing aids. They're more like sound amplifiers than aids tuned to your specific needs. Consequently they tend to amplify all sounds, rather than just the ones your ears are failing to hear well. In many circumstances this can be annoying. When I first tried on these enhancers I was overwhelmed by the sound of air being blown out of the mini-split near my desk. Those sounds don't get amplified much by my tuned hearing aids because I don't need assistance hearing them. All that said, hearing enhancers like these definitely have a useful purpose. They're low cost, they do more good than harm (i.e. they do make it possible to hear your TV more easily), and our brains can adapt to frequencies that are amplified more than our hearing deficits require. If I had to choose between these enhancers and no assistance for my hearing loss, I'd definitely choose using these enhancers. I can hear the sounds around me better (especially my wife speaking to me) with them than without them. These enhancers came with a good supply of extras: the portable charging case, the variety of ear pieces for different sized ear canals and preferences for occlusion/ no occlusion, and a cleaning brush. The kit is complete for getting you up and hearing your favorite TV program (as well as your favorite companion) at a reasonable volume. These enhancers appear to have just three volume levels, which seems a bit low. I found no discernible difference in the normal and noise reduction settings. But in general, operating these enhancers was pretty straight-forward. You don't need to carry the owner's manual around with you.Nits include: ** the difficult to open charging/carrying case. I too eventually found the case is best opened, as another reviewer said, "like breaking a loaf of French bread." I do worry that older folks with arthritis may find the charging case impossible to manage. The remedy is to never put the top back on, but then the UV cleaner will never come on. ** The plastic protective strips over the charging contacts on the enhancers. There's no mention of them in the instructions and I completely missed them until reading about them in other reviews.I plan to use my more expensive hearing aids in everyday activities, and to use these enhancers in settings where their low cost allows me to consider using them despite increased risk of damage or loss (e.g. in my kayak, in the woods doing clearing, etc.)
