fun and very, very clever on many levels.
EXCELLENT ! they are very small & I was apprehensive at first, concerned they were over hyped, but worked perfectly out of the box. They are very, very clever !!! and there is a lot packed into those tiny bots. My 7 & 8 year old girls got a twin pack for christmas and loved the line following - lots of paper with line mazes drawn in maker & the ozobots treated like pets. Next day they discovered they could draw the codes as well - whole new level of play ( learning ! ), and that afternoon they were programming them with ozoblockly & the iPad !!My girls love the big line-bots they have at school, and my wife would bring hers home for them to play with - but these ozobots are on a completely different level. The small size means they can be used anywhere - a complex maze can be drawn on A4. They are tough too - one fell off the kitchen island ( when the paper got too close to the edge ) onto the stone floor, and it carried on quite happily following the floor slab joints !! JOCMy 14yo son can't get near them, might have to get a third.

Went down very well with 11 year old.
My daughter absolutely loves these. She has enjoyed making new routes for them and coding the way so they do little turns and spins etc... I don't understand them at all but she is over the moon.

An impressive educational tool, but flawed
Bought the dual pack for demo in the classroom. Both robots were reliable when it came to reading the color codes we drew and only had some issues when the room was not well lit. One must be careful when kids surround the stage where the bots are, cause any shadow and drop in light intensity in the room can mess with the ozobots (sensors) being responsive. Other than that, the class had really fun with them and definitely going to use them for STEM activities and learning to code. When it comes to ozoblocky (the platform that uses "scratch" like visual blocks for coding) we really had problems using it. Ozoblocky is a great idea but feels half baked. Once you finish coding using the ozoblocky site, you have to calibrate ozobots using the screen and place them there to load the program. If your monitor is a bit old and doesn't have a decent frame rate, just forget it. In newer monitors we almost made it, but kept getting error codes during loading of the program to the ozobots. On the other hand, we had no problems when using the tablet screen in full luminance. When we tried to code with a tablet using as many blocks as possible, the ozobots took much longer to load and eventually returned error. So, if you program them to go straight, take a turn, flash lights and then stop, it's ok. If you have more ambitious plans for ozobots, it's not gonna happen. An alternative is needed, maybe loading the program through the "ozousb".One last thing regarding the bigger than life plastic packaging. It's pretty impressive on sight but I can't see anyone using it once the bots are out. Just feels like a huge waste of plastic that comes in contrast with STEM education.

ozobots
I am a high school robotics coach. I use these for quick outreach lessons for teaching programming and robotics to K-12 students. Most love them. The lessons definitely have to be catered to the age group, and some will need more supervision than others. We have a big poster board with a giant "I <3 Robots" written on it that is actually an Ozobot course. For kids that don't want to or can't make their own course, this is a really easy and fun demonstration. For our regular students that we see every week, we use this as a lesson in programming, troubleshooting, sensors, and much more. If you spend a little time thinking and planning, you can use these for all sorts of lessons that end up being much more fun with cute, colorful little robots. We have hardly touched the classroom resources available from Ozobot, so I can't speak to those. However, these are so simple to learn, I think parents or teachers of any level of science/tech/engineering understanding could quickly pick these up and come up with some fun creative activities. If you are buying your first one, get the whole package instead of the bots by themselves. You will need the Ozobot markers and quick reference sheets/cards that they come with. They also come with fun little decorations you can put on the robots that make them appeal to younger kids. These are best used with the Ozobot markers, and it will take a little practice to get the signals just right, so be patient. These have been great learning tools for our team and the kids we do outreach with, and I highly recommend them.

Me encantan!
