Great Guard
Great mouth guard!Don't waste your time on drug store guards, just get this out the gate!Get the hardest guard they have. I can't see why the seller says some may find their hardest guard uncomfortable. I find bulky guards uncomfortable. It's so thin yet strong that I can even talk in this guard - it's crazy. The guard was a little tight feeling the first two nights I used it. Maybe that's it? Plastic can expand and contract quite a bit though. So in two more nights it fit perfectly.I've never paid for a hard night guard from a Dentist which charge about $700 for them in my area. So I have nothing to compare them to other than $30 drug store guards.Found out I was a grinder 1.5 years ago and I've already gone through 3 drug store guards. I was considering a $700 guard from my dentist for the convenience of not having to get/make a new guard every 6 months even though it would have been more expensive. Also was hoping that my grinding was temporary due to stress and wanted make sure before considering more costly options. LOL it's not - I'm just a grinder now even though I wasn't before and I accept that now.I am so so glad I found this guard and decided to give it shot before going to my dentist. Same type of guard for a sixth of the price probably. I've used it for a week now and know it will last much longer than the equivalent amount of drug store guards for it's price while saving me the convenience.Amazon sent me their kit pretty fast, thank goodness because I know that Amazon drops the ball sometimes. I used If you don't get your kit right away - know that's probably Amazon's fault(unless you selected fulfillment through the seller but most don't).After you get the kit you know this is a great company. There are detailed instructions and everything you need in your kit. They have great support if you have a question.ADVICE - TAKE THE MOLDING TIME SERIOUSLY AND PLAN EVERY MOVE. I think you get about 45 seconds to mold the putty. This is no joke, do it fast and furiously, it will get hard quick from the time it leaves your hands and to when you put it in the guard.Personally, I didn't expect the putty to harden so quick despite the warning and my putty got harder quicker than it seemed/felt it would when manipulating it in my hands. The instructions said to push all the way down to my gums and there would have been enough putty to do so. Unfortunately, I could only get by back gums and about 2/3 the way up my front teeth before the putty got to hard.I emailed the company with my mold pictures and they responded stating they were alright in an hour. AWESOME! Sent my mold and got my guard in less than a week.HUGE PLUS-THEY SENT ME MY TEETH! Well, my teeth mold. I was not expecting to get that back. It's awesome. I've never seen my teeth like this before and it's sooo very fascinating. I told my boyfriend if I get murdered now they won't even have to go to my dentist for the dental records to identify me!

I Recommend trying the Softest / Thin Version for "Average Grinders"
My dentist suspected I was a grinder and quoted me $800 for a night guard that would not be covered by my dental insurance. I was super bummed because this was out of my budget but wanted to stop my grinding, so I decided to try the "microwavable" night guards you can get at Target or Walgreens. This night guard was super uncomfortable and bulky. I decided to try the J&M night guard here on amazon and I am so glad that I did!I decided to opt for the lightest option and I am so glad that I did; it is clear, soft and a little thicker than an invisilign or clear retainer. It is also super comfortable; I thought it would be a drag to use a night guard but I actually ENJOY sleeping with this thing because it is soft and my jaw is noticeably less sore throughout the night. The lightest version is advertised for "light grinding / day wear"; I'd say I'm an average grinder but I'm still really glad I chose the lightest option. I love that its softer. It also has absolutely no signs of wear and I've been using it for a few months now. I love the soft comfort of this night guard over the harder options. I purchased in Aug 2018 and will update if I ever see signs of wear.

The Best Available!
Long story short: I went through TMJ therapy in 1987 and have worn a night guard (my dentist called it a “bite plate”) for more than 30 years. My original was a hard plastic that lasted me without fail until I dropped it about a year ago. Rather than pay a dentist an exorbitant price to replace it, I thought I’d try the do-it-yourself variety. I tried a number of brands but wasn’t satisfied with any of them: too much material on the roof of my mouth and up the sides of my gums. Trimming them required scissors and I always made a pathetic job of it, leaving sharp edges and snaggy bits that nail files didn’t help to smooth. Besides, I was used to a hard, inflexible guard in my mouth and these just didn’t do the job for me. They irritated my lips and interfered with both my lips and my tongue so that my husband complained that he couldn’t understand me at night when I had it in my mouth, something that had never been a problem before. So I searched for yet another brand to try and discovered J&S Dental Lab Night Guard. The process of making the impression of my teeth was much simpler than making a night guard using any of the DIY brands. And I received my new one exactly one week after mailing them my impression. I ordered the hard style and it is very similar to what I wore for nearly 30 years. I didn’t realize how much I missed having the right kind, and how much better it is for me. If you have the symptoms of TMJ, do go through a qualified dentist; making my first bite plate just right required some three months of visits and adjustments, but relieved my migraines and jaw pain, straightened my bite, and was worth every penny. Otherwise, I highly recommend J&S Dental Lab. I am utterly and completely pleased with my new guard. I don’t know if this one will last the nearly 30 years that my original did, but it’s so far superior to the DIY kinds that I would give it 10 stars if that were an option.

J&S LAB DENTAL NIGHT GUARD, UPPER...MINE IS FOR POWER CLENCHERS!
J&S Dental sent me the impression trays, and I was to choose the one that best fit my jaw. I used the middle size, and my molars were squeezed a bit, but after exchanging e-mails on this with J&S, I sent in my impression and they fashioned a hard guard for me, since I am a power chewer and clenched. It arrived within 10 days and I popped it in. It felt a bit tight on my 2 rear molars, but I decided to try it for a night and see how it was. It worked GREAT and I had no soreness, felt no pressure on my molars. I'm 62 and am aware that our teeth do move a bit. After wearing the guard for 2 nights, I am keeping the guard as-is. It is smooth, very hard, and it's made so that my lower incisors (which are wearing badly because of my clenching) do not even touch the top of the guard, so that is a significant improvement. J&S were willing to rework the guard if I needed, but I'm very happy and would order from them again. My last J&S guard lasted for 2 years of HARD WEAR.
