Stair Stringers Cutting Layout Tool

Unboxing and installing the attachments took all of 15 seconds and incredibly easy for the first time user. However, following the paper instructions that came in the box for how to measure/use the tool were very vague. Not that they weren't correct but not fool proof for a first time user. However, the free instructional video on YouTube made the tool extremely easy to use. First time I've ever needed to make my own stringers and this tool made it very easy and a success. Literally took less than an hour to learn the tool, measure, and label 4 stringers from scratch. I do have experience using power tools, using skillsaws and jigsaws, so maybe that helped the learning curve. I just don't believe that to be the case though. They made this tool so easy to use, I believe anyone who takes the time and effort to check their measurements (measure twice, cut once) will find great success with this tool.High quality material that will withstand the test of time because as long as you aren't dropping it off a high deck. There is nothing that can really fail with the quality of material that they used.5 stars for sure.

After heavily modifying the tool it worked great to measure stair stringers.So I bought this to redo some stairs in an older home where the stairwell is way out of what the modern building code would allow for.The stairwell simply isnt large enough for the stairs this tool could be used to make. With the online calculator they provide I would have ended up with 3 ft of headroom and thats not enough to even use the stairs.But that is nothing my metal cutoff grinder couldnt fix.This tool has built-in end caps on it that "govern" or limit the lengths you can set for the rises and treads.After I got out my metal cutoff tool and my bimetal drill set, I was able to modify this tool to the appropriate lengths to work for my old stairwell.But heavily modifying the tool isn't something that I should have had to do. I get you want people to build stairs to code, but it nearly made this tool useless for my older out-of-code home.This tool also is literally just 2 sticks of aluminum set in a 90 degree angle. It is nothing that special. I think the price should be about $40 max, not the high price they are charging for it. But that may be low volume scales pricing issue so I understand.

Meh for the cost and ease of use you better off just getting a framing square and stair gaugesHonestly directions are very vague and you literally have to think it through over and over again I definitely think that there could be better suggestions throughout the process with this product
