Its Bloody, it's Gory and it is Brilliant
Its Bloody, it's Gory and it is BrilliantThis book is beautifully illustrated with bright colours, funny with a dark sense of humour and with a delightful twist on common fairy-tale like adventuresTo give you an idea of this bookOften the main character resolves differences between characters by telling them "To go Fluff themselves", before showing the reader their entrails (no swear words but lots of violence and murder)The illustrations are graphic to a comical level that reflexes the fairy-tale world, however this is not for children I recommend Teens and Up (no age guidance in the book). This is a brilliant book and I would easily recommend it to a friend.

Great story, art and writing.
I don't usually write reviews for books, but after reading this one I had to! Fantastic art that is colorful and detailed - effort has been put into drawing/writing this book and it definitely shows. The story is very funny, with snappy dialogue that manages to keep in stride with the mature theme of this comic without the use of a single swear word - it just goes to show how much effort the writers have put in when considering the tone of each of the incredibly memorable characters.Packed with action and laughs throughout, I will be on the lookout for volume 2!P.S (NOT suitable for children!)

Art work is awesome on every single page
Love this book. I'm more into the art than the comics but found myself drawn into this crazy adventure and will be getting more of this series!

Very very silly, extremely inventive and funnyish - SPOILERS
Synopsis. Charming small girl magically hoiked out of her bedroom and into fairy land. The character is drawn as homage to botn Dorothy and Alice at least. Queen of fairies sends her on a two day quest with a magic map and a maggoty Jiminny Cricket as a guide to find a magic key to take her home. Twenty seven years later we discover that the (still) little girl is a bit more than a bit crap at quests, has become very grumpy and is an invincible psychopathic mass murderer who just wants to go home to Mummy and Daddy. I loved it. There was a hint of Python in the stupidity of it all. It was exremely inventive systematically turning huge tracts of fairy story and fantasy novel tropes into a wine dark ocean of blood in so many unexpected was. It has a few really funny bits but it is more amusing than laugh out loud funny. Good solid four but I don't see them getting another three high quality volumes out of this idea. We shall see.

Unique
I'll be honest. I've never really loved comic books. I don't know why, because i love Art and love to draw. BUT I Hate Fairyland i so UNIQUE. Violent, but funny, like "Quentin Tarantino meet Happy Tree Friends". Skottie Young's style is expressive and cool. He is one of my favourite artists, its out of question. Because of him, I do have faith in comics. Wait for more!

Sheer sugar coated genius!!!
I loved every day-glo page of this OTT fairytale horror splatfest.Imagine a graphic novel drawn in the style of Happy Tree Friends meets Ren & Stimpy with buckets of gore, marshmallows, brains and candy canes and a mid 30 year old maniacal protagonist stuck in the body of an 8 year old and you are some way to understanding the basic idea.Full of fabulous multi coloured illustration and imaginative uber-violence, this had me smiling and chuckling madly for hours on end.I simply can't wait to see what mayhem is in store for the lead character Gertrude as she cleaves and splatters her way through the forthcoming storyline.Sheer sugar coated genius!!!

Funny, grotesque and colorful fairyland story
3.5 stars. The thing that drew me to this graphic novel was the artwork. The level of detail, the vibrant rainbow colors, and the cute characters that inhabit fairyland all made me want to pick up this comic! You’d think this story would be all fluffy based on the description alone, right? So wrong! I loved how the bright cheery art work juxtaposed with the angry, very gore-filled story as we followed Gertrude’s bitter filled journey through fairyland to find the key to take her home. Her tirades and deft “dispatching” (aka slaughter) of basically every single character she came across in fairyland, while admirable if you like that sort of thing, did get old after a while though. The storyline didn’t reveal anything new about why she’s still there after all these years, and I kind of wish we got to see more of the start to her journey, before she became so bitter and a woman trapped in a creepy child’s body. I also wished we learned more about how and why children get abducted to fairyland in the first place! But maybe that’s too logical for a graphic novel such as this. While I did enjoy it, Gertrude’s trajectory was basically the same scene after scene, so I’m not sure if I’d continue on with the series. I will say I’m curious to see what happens next although considering it’s Gertrude, fairyland may end up looking like hellish-land sooner rather than later! Just don’t know if I’m curious enough. The art work is definitely amazing though—I’m always attracted to bright splashy colors, and cute scenes and characters!

Oozing with Charm and Fun
This book is absolutely incredible and was impossible to put down once I started! A little girl is sent away to "Fairyland" and is given a quesg to find a key to return home. Fun and cute! ...Untill it takes alot longer than initially expected. Full of blood, violence, and gross-out humor that is a blast to follow. For around 10 bucks, you'd really be missing out if you passed it up.

Fun comic, although next volumes may get boring
I found the comic very fun, although I think that after finishing the first volume, it may just be a one-trick-pony - the humor is essentially entirely based on violence.
