a good book for children
My 7 year old granddaughter is studying the artic and antarctic virtually from school. I told her about Shackleton which she hadn't learnt about. I sent her this book which arrived the following day, thank you Amazon, and she sat down and read it cover to cover and really found it interesting.

I love the book Endurance
I love the book Endurance, and I wanted to get my nephew his own version of the story. This book is matched well to his reading level, and the illustrations are gorgeous. Really a wonderful Christmas gift, and a tremendous subject matter.

Good book!
Recently returned from a trip to the Antarctic where I met Chris wilson, the grand-nephew of Dr. Edward Wilson who accompanied Robert F. Scott to the south Pole and died there with him. A naturalist with a specialty in ornithology, Chris's passion is contagious. So I found this book for my grandsons, age 7 and 5, and was impressed with the book's beautiful artwork as well as the simple way Scott's story is told. During this trip I also met an anthropologist who'd met Peter Scott, Robert Scott's son who was 2 years old when his father died. found out that JM Barry and Robert Scott were close friends and that Peter was the model and inspiration for 'Peter Pan'.
