I'd say that this game set a precedent for first-person shooters, and was probably the inspiration behind the now extremely popular Battlefield Bad Company 2. Delta Force 2 is the first game to include bullet trajectories, that is the arcing downward of bullets fired at a target some distance away, and many of the gadgets and technologies so ubiquitous in modern titles first appeared here.There are numerous shortcomings: the graphics are arguably quite poor; and even more frustratingly there a quite a lot of bugs. But in spite of the bad things it is a surprisingly well designed and broad game. The environments are enormous, and you can spend hours marching through hills and swimming rivers, all while listening to the sounds of the wind blowing and the occasional cries of wild animals and birds.Probably what I like most about the game is the fact that it is about as real and life-like as a shooting game is ever likely to get. Mostly the missions involve rescuing prisoners, or taking out enemy camps, which are nearly all followed by a race to the extraction point to be picked up. More importantly, too, you aren't alone fighting your way through the wilderness; Alpha and Charlie teams often provide overwatch and can actually hit targets, something which AI in modern games can't even achieve. Taking out buildings, tents and enemy ships with laser designated fire missions was something quite fun to do as well.This game is fantastic, and I still play it today.

What a great idea for a game. Stick the player in the middle of one of the most crack military squads ever, load them with weaponry and send them on missions. It should be very easy to make an excelent game with this criteria, but this fails miserably. The graphics are fairly decent, however there are many problems in the landscape and enemies will 'fall through' the scenery with alarming regularity. The models are impressive, and the scenery seems to go on for ages. However this does not define the game. The gameplay is truly poor. One of the main factors is that your 3-4 man team is completely useless. They will regularly run into groups of 4 or 5 enemies and take them on themselves. They all try to be Rambo. Another problem is that if you shoot an enemy in the foot they will fall down dead! There is a huge amount of missions (about 40 I think), and there around three different types. Some are quite fun, but many are monotonus and boring, requiring you to travel huge distances to reach a check point. The AI is also very bad. They will never leave their position until you can put a bullet in them or they kill you. If you are facing a patrol and you snipe one of the men the others will pay no attention to their dead comrade. This game has no replay value what so ever. If you make it to the end you will never play it again. All in all a very poor game that should have been great.
