High quality set of cups, accurate to US Legal standards but wrongly labelled as metric
Before I get onto the review, I thought it would be useful to provide a bit of information on what is the correct size of cup, as it depends on what country you are in or recipe you’re following. The UK, Australia, Canada and many other European counties use the metric cup of 250ml. However, in the US, they use a different cup size, 2 different sizes in fact. The US Legal cup is 240ml and the US Customary cup is 236.6ml, with the latter more traditionally used in US baking recipes.Quality 5/5This is the first product I have bought from OXO but from using them each day this past week I can confirm they are of high quality and are very well made. Cups are weighted correctly so will not tip over when filled and magnets are strong enough to hold the set together. Both spoons and cups have a flat base which allows them to rest on the table.Accuracy 5/5* (*based on US Legal cup standards)Above all, the most important factor is accuracy and so following on from the negative review left previously, I decided to carry out my own test. Measuring cups are meant for dry ingredients so using water to measure volume is not always accurate as water will sit proud of the cup due to the meniscus layer. On OXO’s site they actually say that they use tiny beads to measure the weight and then calculate the volume. The best alternative I could find was white granulated sugar which from researching online appears to have the most consistent weight per cup (200g for US Customary cup). Testing procedure consisted of using the scoop and level technique of filling and taking an average of 3 results for each cup on a set of calibrated scales accurate to +- 0.5g. Results are below:1 cup: 203.1g sugar = 240.3ml (1 US Legal cup = 240ml or 1 US Customary cup = 236.6ml)1/2 cup: 102.5g sugar = 120.9ml (1/2 US Legal cup = 120ml or 1/2 US Customary cup = 118.3ml)1/3 cup: 68.3g sugar = 80.8ml (1/3 US Legal cup = 80ml or 1/3 US Customary cup = 78.9ml)1/4 cup: 50.4g sugar = 59.6ml (1/4 US Legal cup = 60ml or 1/4 US Customary cup = 59.2ml)The above results prove to me that these measuring cups are based on the US Legal cup standard and have been manufactured to a high degree of accuracy, less than 1ml out, which could easily be down to my scales or testing procedure. Nowadays in US recipes, both 240ml and 236.6ml cups are often used, whilst 236.6ml is still considered as the traditional standard. However, the difference is so small (203.1g of sugar vs 200g) and cups in general are inherently inaccurate with humidity, temperature and filling technique all having a much larger impact. Baking with weight is far superior to volume, so always use a scale if you can.Labelling 2/5One issue with these cups and the reason why I gave 4 stars and not 5 is the fact that they are incorrectly labelled, specifically the 250ml and 125ml cups. If you look at the back of the packaging, there is a sticky label that says the capacities are 250ml / 125ml / 80ml / 60ml (Metric cups). This also matches the labelling printed on the cups themselves. However, upon removing the sticky label from the packaging, the printed text below gives capacity as 240ml / 120ml / 80ml / 60ml (US Legal cups). I suspect that OXO are manufacturing 1 cup size and are selling it to both US and UK markets, but with different labels. The pictures on Amazon are also showing the US version, the cups I received show both cup size and metric ml printed on them.ConclusionThese high quality measuring cups are well made and accurate (based on US Legal cup standards), despite being incorrectly labelled as metric cups. Perfect for following US recipes.

Don’t buy these if you are looking for accuracy. Completely inaccurate measurements and labels.
The cup measurements are inaccurate and the metric labels they use are ridiculously off. The sole surprise of these cups are to measure the volume of stuff in them. This is very poor quality from oxo who usually makes very nice kitchen equipment. The one redeeming feature is the nice grips and magnets to keep the cups together. What the labels say - what the cups contain1 cup, 250 ml - 0.97 cups, 230ml ( 1 cup is 236ml!)1/2 cup, 125ml -0.47cups , 111ml (1/2 cup is 118ml!)1/3 cup, 80ml - 0.28 cups, 67ml (1/3 cup is 79ml)1/4 cup, 60ml - 0.21 cups, 50ml (1/4 cup is 59ml)

Useful Kitchen Addition
Useful addition to my kitchen measures when using American recipes. Clever magnetic handle to keep the together in a drawer, say.

Great cups for great accuracy
These oxo measuring cups are easy to use because of the flat rim you can easily scrape off excess food with the back of a knife. Something that’s not easily done with others. They also store easy with the magnetic part of the handle. Baking in particular needs accurate measurements so when using American recipes I would use these cups
