Edirol Microphone Stand Adapter

I wanted to hang my Zoom H4n from a boom microphone stand, but the main issue was that although the Zoom is a microphone, it has a 1/4 inch camera style mount. Although they included a plastic adapter to make it easier to use a mic stand, there would be no way to dangle it from a boom stand with such a weak mount. There is no way I was willing to hang a delicate $250 device from a weak mount.This thing is rock solid. I soon discovered that it was not only a great way to hang my Zoom from a boom (I couldn't resist saying that), but it's strong enough to mount other devices like lighting and even my DSLR on mic stands.

It's fine. However, the first time I tried to use it on a gig, I did not realize until later that I needed to remove the bottom piece with my thumbnail in order to mount the unit on the house's mike stand. My unit did not come with instructions.

Even though the description only mentions that this is for an Edirol R09C, this little adapter works for all kinds of lightweight gadgets that can be mounted to a tripod. This includes point and shoot cameras, pocket camcorders, and other voice recorders like the Zoom H2. Considering how light these items are, using a mic stand vs. a tripod really lets you save floor space without sacrificing stability. The adapter feels very sturdy and should last a long time. This product is comparable to the  On Stage Camera or Digital Recorder Microphone Stand Mount , but this seems more compact and looks easier to use, whereas the On Stage stand mount looks like it can handle more weight.

I had purchased the On-Stage adapter but I'm so glad I decided to spend an extra 20 bucks to try this out.. The On-Stage adapter that does the same thing is half the price - but with a price... @_@ This adapter is so easy to adjust and its easy to lock in and out of place to move things around. All around a solid build and a great adapter! If you're wanting to use a small camcorder or something similar with a mic boom, this is definitely the right attachment for you!

If your handheld recorder has a tripod mount on the back, This product is for you. Holds the recorder firmly in place, and looks good too (unlike the one that comes with the Zoom H4n). Mounts on top of any standard mic stand to place your recorder inside of a piano, above a small choral or orchestral group, etc. Really allows you to put the recorder in tight spaces. When I sell off my DR-07, I'm keeping this for my next recorder. Great Product!

This is something that is necessary if you are to mount the Edirol recorder on a microphone stand. It is well constructed--but just an expensive shame it is needed.
