Great book even for Bulgarians
great series.i got this book without even knowing the protagonist is a Bulgarian like me. I have a pretty simple selection criteria: length 20hr+ average, audio-book available as add-on to kindle & interesting plot.only after the author explicitly said that the MC is a Bulgarian I realized that. There is no Basil in Bulgaria, the name is Vassill (or Vasil but this spelling will change the pronunciation of the name). in Bulgarian 'B' -> 'V' and 'S' -> 'Z' are absolutely different sounds and would never-ever confused or mispronounced. in Bulgaria Vassill Leffsky is a figure of the rank of MLK and Nelson Mandala. This is the person that lost his life in 1873 (yes there were still white slaves at that time) trying to liberate Bulgarians from Turkish slavery. No parent will use a butchered and unrecognizable version of that name.Aside from that, the author managed to research the Bulgarian culture pretty well. Due to the government control during the socialism most of the people were vegetarians by necessity. Only the highly connected or/and rich people can afford eating meat. My mom was able to make 7 different dishes out of a 1kilo(2.2lb) whole chicken and this fortune was not happening every month. that's why Bulgarians prefer to eat meat now so they don't feel poor.my biggest problem with this book is the narrator especially where Bulgarian names and places are concerned. I suspects I am more sensitive to those because they are native to me but I counted 5+ different versions of the MC's name. As more people were added, it became very confusing to me because i started thinking that i was asleep during a new character introduction, only to discover 2 minutes later that this is another way the narrator pronounced existing characters. this was very annoying. Maybe the narrator should pronounce each foreign name in front of a Bulgarian and save the recording for future references or until he learn to pronounce it the same way every time. I do not think this would be a problem for any English speaking listener except to those with Slavic background. This is why I don't think it's fair to penalize the author for narrator's mistakes.

A solid read, with some interesting mechanics
Just as the title says, this book was a solid read. There were very few grammatical errors, and the plot was decent. The standout features for me were the perks system and the ability to freely multi class. The downsides were the main characters drama at times and the general lack of innovation in story arc. It’s the same basic setup as every other system apocalypse type book, with little to shake that up. It’s still a good read, just not quite top tier at this point. If it had come out a few years ago I’d have probably rated it a 5 then.

Hilarious, enjoyable, and quick paced
Very satirical and over the top, poking fun at genre tropes and a certain established IP.I can handle the mildly lewd jokes and found them in good taste. There was a little extra on the Christianity but it didn't turn me off enough to remove a star as those parts were, like the test is the story, heavy with satire.Lastly, the story takes place in France with a great many references. I think that caused me to overlook some of the grammar mistakes because they're not egregious and seem like something a non-native English speaker would soup up on.Definitely going to check out the next book.

10/10 absolutely love it
This book is really great, far better than I expected. A good friend recommended it to me. The author does a really great job of building lovable characters and slowly immersing the reader into a new world rather that just tossing them in the deep end and explaining later. Another thing I really like is that while this book is part of a series and leaves you wanting more, it doesn’t leave off on a cliffhanger. Overall great book, I love Plato and Rosmarine is adorable and I can’t wait to see what the party gets up to in the next book.

a rollicking good time
I had so much fun reading this. It’s fast paced, witty, fun and engaging. I was hooked from the first page. Don’t take my word for how good it is, download a copy and read it for yourself. NOW lol

Solid overall, but suffered from the usual power creep
I really do enjoy the idea of apocalypse LitRPG where the world is changed by some system and the main character has to adjust to a world with magic and monsters. Its a great foundation for a tale that can do many different ways and build great characters.Sadly, Maxime Durand took the route many other LitRPG authors do. The power levels of the main character and his allied and enemies is not based on a solid system. Instead the villains are always far more powerful than the main character who survives as much thanks to his plot armor as thanks to his abilities. And that's about all I can say about this book. The idea is good. The overall story is interesting. But the foundation of the tale is all that was good. The characters failed to impress me and the villains were far too powerful to help establish the tale.I think lovers of the genre will rate this much higher than I do. I grade a lot more harshly than the average fan of the genre, so please take that into account.
